I love London. Of course, I have the advantage of only being a visitor/guest while I'm there, and of only staying for as long as I can afford it.
I love the theatres, the museums, the terrific zoo.... and I love walking about through the neighborhoods when the weather permits.
Last time I was there I stayed at the Sherlock Holmes Hotel on Baker Street of course. The accomodations were excellent, and the location reminds me of a broader point. London has been the subject of so much writing, fiction and non-fiction, read for generations by people all over the English speaking world, that the simple thrill of being someplace you've only read about is a constant draw. |

I rank London in the top 3 cities in the world, along with New York and Sydney.
Contrary to previous answerers, it doesnt rain constantly in London and the majority of Londoners are warm, welcoming people, especially in the tourist areas.
There's tonnes of stuff to see and do for people with all different kinds of interests. And the London Underground (aka Tube) makes it easy to get around quickly from place to place.
The London Eye offers breath taking panoramic views of the entire city, the Tower of London is rich in history; Hyde Park is the closest Brits get to Manhattan's Central Park; St. Paul's Cathedral was (I think) the only building in the city centre to survive the German Blitz on London in WW2; Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament; loads of museums namely the British Museum and Natural History Museum; there's Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Oxford Street (London's equivalent of New York's 5th Avenue); the list is endless.
I loved London when I visited, and will definitely be a place I take my kids one day. |

It's the only place in Europe I've ever been and it was wonderful.
The people were pleasant and friendly. It was incredibly easy to get around via the Tube.
There was tons of stuff to see and do and plenty of great restaurants and shopping.
A sense of time and history Americans can't imagine at home. What't not to like???? |

I'm a native and I still find things in this city that amaze me. I can recommend it to anyone.

Must be the history, sites, and plays. Otherwise it is too expensive, crowded, and too many skinheads and "undesirable" foreigners. |

I personally love london. i've been there as a tourist several times and still have not experienced all it has to offer! It's my favourite large city of all the ones I've been to (and that's a lot!!) Can't wait until I move there next year....I don't think one could ever get bored there, unless he was lacking an imagination :) |

I have never been to to London, but from what I hear English people are very uptight and the country is very cold. Im not a big fan of London, I personally would reccommend Paris or Sydney. The weather in both cities are excellent and the people are more friendly that English folks. |
