No you don't need a passport, you just need a photo ID on your driving licence. I dont know what other photo IDs there are but the driving licence is the one they ask to see at the airports. I've flown several times on domestic flights and this is what they ask for. If you dont have one it's best to check with a travel agent what else they will accept. |

If Tony Blair has his way we'll need a national ID card & 3G+GPS transponder to drive to the supermarket. |

I know you can use a driving licence. My advise would be to telephone the airline before booking and check that you can board a flight with it. When you do please take the persons full name, then if it goes horribly wrong at the airport you have a name within the company who told you you could. |

All you need is a government issued ID. For the most part countries (including Great Britain) issue passports only for international travel; very few countries still issue both internal and international passports. |

no you don't need a passport to travel within the UK. I just returned and took a train from Manchester to Newcastle. You only need passports when entering or leaving the country. |

No you don't need a passport but I don't think a provisional is enough ID.
I'm sure it needs to be a FULL driving licence. The best thing for you to do is give the airport a ring. I wouldn't want to be them blame for you not being able to travel because of my advice.
Good luck :-) |

(a) A passport is not required for travel between Great Britain and Ireland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man - http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/passport_visa.ehtml?o=291&NAV_guide_class=&NAV_Region=&NAV_SubRegion=
(b) The airline requires all passengers to provide photographic ID at check-in on all flights including domestic services. Passengers, other than British or Irish nationals, travelling between the UK and the Republic of Ireland, are required to produce a valid passport and any associated relevant travel documentation. - www.easyjet.com (easyjet flights only)
it might be better just to double check the airlines website first though |

No, since you do not leave the domestic airspace.
But don't mention this too often, otherwise you are giving the government a new idea. If they could, they would make us have a passport for crossing the street. |

You do not need a passport. But all flights do require photo ID. As you will have your passport with you I would keep that as your primary ID and keep your licence as back-up (as I don't think a provisional is enough).
Enjoy England! |

Technically no, but you will need photo ID, so a passport or a full drivers license. My father used his disability badge thingy. |

I don't think you should fly such a short distance. Get the train. you know one of the worst culprits for greenhouse gases are short haul flights like this one.
Fair enough if you're going somewhere like Australia or even Europe, but its not a necessity to fly, its a luxury.
It may be pretty cheap to do but it a hell of a cost for the environment. Think about it.
Its up to all of us to do our bit and take responsibility for this planet we call home. |

I just wanted to write and tell you that I had an
absolutely fabulous time in England and Ireland
during a ten day excursion. I was a chaperon from
a high school in Northern Pennsylvania. Larry
Alexander, our courier, was fantastic. He was
knowledgeable, personable, and willing to do anything
to make the trip go smoothly. In addition, the
accommodations were outstanding, and the food was
excellent. I couldn't believe that I was on a
student trip! I can't say enough about the experience.
The highest praise I can give, though, came from one
of my students. She turned to me while touring
Windsor Castle and said, "England is so beautiful...
I love it here. I don't want to go home." All of
the students with whom I toured said the same.
We have some lifetime travelers
on our hands, and that is why we do this in the first
place. Though I did not plan this trip myself, I will
use Passports to plan any trip that I arrange in the
future. In conclusion, yes, you do need a passport to fly within England.
