Do you require a passport to travel within the UK?

I am due to travel from glasgow to london within the next few weeks and have noticed that my passport has expired. Do I need to get it renewed before travelling?

If you are travelling by air then you will need photographic ID, so if your passport was your only means of identification you'll need to get it renewed!

LOL..

NO.

You don't even need a passport to get into the UK if you come on a truck via the channel tunnel.

You are British & free to roam into any part of this nation, without ID. (for now)

No because you are not passing through immigration.

You may, however, need it if you have nothing else to identify yourself as the person named on the flight ticket. Check with the airline to see what identification they require.

You are here: X
you need photo ID to fly internally in the UK e.g passport / driving licence. you'll have to check with the airport as to what you can use as ID what with the high security at airports since 911 etc.
it'd probably work out best to do an urgent renewal but it's pretty pricey (By appointment only at passport office counters - guaranteed one-week Fast Track service - £91 / By appointment only at passport office counters - guaranteed same-day Premium service - £108 If you are applying at a passport office, you must make an appointment by calling us on our 24-hour Passport Adviceline 0870 521 0410 (see terms and conditions). A Premium same-day service is only available on weekdays if you make an appointment for before 4pm in London, 1pm in Liverpool or 12 midday elsewhere. On Saturdays, the Premium same-day service is available for appointments for before 11am. The waiting time for your passport will be four hours once the application has been accepted and a receipt supplied by the cashier.)
