I can imagine living in London you really have to expand your expenses. |

The actual City of London is the smallest city in the world measuring just one square mile, with a population of ca 7,000!! The London people refer to is expansive as it used as a "catch all" Phrase! examples are Windsor, Harrow, Ealing and other surrounding areas. |

Presuming you mean expensive, then most definitely. I currently live there, and we are living about 1/2hr from the city centre and we are paying £1040 ($2080 USD) per month in rent for a TINY one bedroom flat that is only in average condition - not bad, not amazing.
The cost of transport is expensive too. A monthly zone 1 and 2 tube ticket costs me about £90 per month, so when you consider that my partner also needs one, that's £180 ($360 USD) per month in transport costs.
Add to this Council tax for the flat of £150 per month, and you can easily see how things add up very quickly.
So when you consider that it costs £1370 just to exist in the city, it's a significant chunk of income gone straight away.
Most people tend to do a fair bit of share-house living in London which can significantly lower (and share) the costs making things more achievable.
Short answer to your question is that, Yes - it is quite expensive - particularly lodging and transport. |

Yes it is, I believe , the second most expensive country in the world. Moscow is the most expensive. |

London is the most expensive city in the world - not an opintion but a fact. |

It is very expensive. A simple 3-bedroom house is costing over £330,000. A simple meal (1 course) will cost you over £10.00 in a restaurant. But it's less expensive than Venice. |

Are you sure you have the right word? Expansive means large, covering a wide area, and which certainly applies to
London.....I suspect you mean expensive, meaning dear to live,,, Yes London is dear, reflects the salaries etc, in the area... Londoners tend to work in the city but live way out in the suburbs,,,Shop at supermarkets . It is cheaper (a bit) to live 30 miles away but the cost of fares keeps going up. |

Absolutely YES |

In my opinion, yes it is!
I share a 1 bedroom flat with my boyfriend in zone 2 and it is £1,100 a month, we then have to pay for a travel card that is £90.00 each and our bills are £115.00 each a month. So that's £755.00 a month each, not even taking into consideration food, general living and going out. |

I think London is very expensive! I'm English living in Canada and most things in Canada are cheaper than England and especially London. |

If you living here you probably have to be working. In that case salaries can be higher than in most other countries and there is the possibility to work longer hours for more money as well : ) There is tough competition between restaurants and many have 2 for 1 offers. Happy hours are popular for cheap drinks. You can source cheap theatre tickets etc. Also for a Capital city London has loads of supermarkets and again prices are competitive. If you are a careful consumer and ask people who know London for good insider info London can be you exciting friend and doesn't have to be too expensive. If you decide to visit again I hope you have a great time. |

Expansive? You mean it talks a lot. |

Expansive as in it is expanded over a large area? No not really, for the number of people living in London I don't think so. There is a very high density of people and you don't have to travel far to find WHATEVER you want.
I have a suspicion that you mean expensive? Yes most things in London aren't cheap from going out to living costs, especially when compared to some European countries. but it is by no way the most expensive country in europe. |
