Do you think that UK motorway services overcharge for food and snacks?

Too damn right they do mate..
Glenys usually walks away when we are in a services as I tell them exactly what I think of the poor food and loony prices.
The problem is that they know we have to eat and drink so charge what they want regardless of how badly cooked it is, how cold it is and how shite tasting it is..

magidge
It is standard procedure.
Happens all over the world.
Their customers are stuck on a motorway, have no place else to go to purchase whatever it is they need, so they can charge almost whatever they like.
It is somewhat akin to having a 'captive audience'. They have no place else to go.

Yes i do, but not at much as Steve does, he embarrasses me in them, he allways says so people can hear, I have just bought the crockery and cutlery along with this meal...

Chocco B
yes, all the time

Quizard
Yes, same with petrol. "Your miles away from anywhere else pay for our cr@p cooked stuff or go hungry"

sarch_uk
Sure do that's why we either take our own food and drink and just use their loos, or we make use of this site before we set off...

They are expensive, but the rents the government ask for is very high,
but they also provide food and drink plus toilet and parking facilities 24 hours a day.

Yes, they are extortionate. I don't use them anymore. I take my own scobbie snacks with me. And the tiny little slip roads to get back on the motorway, dangerous if you ask me.

I remember not to long ago a trip to Devon. A National Coach, which had visited the services, sped on the motorway so quick, I had to brake severely to stop being hit by him. It frightened me to death.

UK motorway services are overpriced, overcrowded and must employ some of the most unfriendly staff I have ever met in my life.

Yes... It's called 'Captive custom'. You'll also find it on Railway Stations and in Airports...Oh, and Shopping Centre's

Yes, and the quality is not good either

Yup. And the food is horrible.
