no I dont.
I like the comfort of my car too much, and I dont like the idea of being squashed on public transport with lots of smelly people.
It could be improved by more of it.

yes i do, its a punishment for my past demeanours.

To make it better? well first lower the price, secondly make the trains work on time.

We pay twice as much for our train journeys compared to the rest of europe yet we have the worst rail system in the developed world, even India has a better rail system and we built it for them.

generally we just get screwed over. the last train journey i took 2 trains broke down and i was 4.5 hours late (it was only supposed to be a 3 hour train journey!)

Lucky Man.
I walk or i cycle and so should the rest of the world.

Lower the price, clean the trains/tubes/buses properly, air con on the tube, conductors on the buses, monitor mad bus drivers, ban people from wearing rucksacks whilst actually on public transport, run buses more regularly, fine the train/tube companies for minor delays and see if that makes any difference, make every member of Parliament travel from one side of London to the other during rush hour and see how they like being treated like cattle, enforce the "no elderly people before 9.30 unless they pay extra" rule, bring in actual school buses.... Shall I go on? All jokes aside, I think that London transport is one of the best transport systems in the world and I would be completely lost without it, I just think that if they made the little things better the big ones won't seem so bad!

I travel on public transport a lot and one thing that I dont like is the state of the seats. Most if the time they are looking very shabby and you just dont feel like sitting on them

I travel on public transport daily. It could be improved by fewer people taking their cars to work and clogging up the roads so buses can't get through.

Make it cheaper because it's vastly overpriced, the tube especially. And on buses bring back the conductors because so many people get away without paying, particularly on the bendy buses, totally open to fraud. More ticket inspectors, what they cost will be offset against the money the companies get back in revenue. A total ban on food on tube and buses as it smells, and the litter that people leave behind is vile.

How's about a fully integrated door to door system, which isn't overcrowded even at peak times. London's transport isn't good, it's simply functional and gets you where you need to be in a reasonable time. That for me is the absolute minimum you should expect from a system.

My realistic 'would love to see' improvment for the tube network in particular would be to have the departure boards at the entrances to stations so you can decide if it's worth walking faster, or whether you have time for a ciggy outside. Also it would be nice to be able to get them on your mobile internet device with a realistic refresh period. Tfl already give them, but when you're talking a refresh period of a minute or two it's kinda stupid, especially if you are dead close to a tube. It would be realistically possible to do these realtime.

Unrealistically, I would like a travel card that works on tube & buses, trains, ferries. Where you can go intercity (for a charge), then use your destination city's zones for local travel with no further charge. Imagine travelling with your Oyster to Birmingham or Manchester or even Paris for example and continue enjoying local journeys. The participant cities could then simply credit each other for all the journeys taken.

Also, the trains need to be about three or four times longer than they are at present. I'm talking thirty carraige monsters - none of this Namby Pamby adding a carraige here and there, we need billions invested in super sizing the platforms, having double decker bendy buses, where the vast majority of the passengers are able to sit in comfort even at rush hour. The fleet for peak times could be tiny, and similar to how you get a double decker in the morning and a single decker on a route overnight, they could be used ony at these peak times. Alternatively, a government scheme to provide tax relief to firms who are willing to stagger opening hours, or guarantee a portion of their workforce can work from home would reduce the rediculous numbers trying to use the system at these key times. We are a 24hr society ffs! Why most people are still travelling for 9-5 work is beyond me. with a little motivation firms could easily have their workers stay at home, or use local teleworker cottages to reduce the people travelling, or completely change their opening hours with little to no effect on their business. The transport infrastructure, thus operating at much less capacity would become much more pleasant to travel on.

How's about having platforms with large spacious lounges with room for everyone which are as comfortable as a living room, with a complementary hot drinks service for those cold winter mornings, and a selection of tv channels on the wall and the sound available via headphones in the chairs so as not to disturb those passengers who want to have a chat, hmm? In fact if that was put in, I wouldn't mind my train being late!

The public transport system is competing with Mercedes & BMW for heaven's sake. Unless we start legislating to restrict the comfort level and acoustic deadening in these vehicles, we're never going to win the battle!

Simple... re-nationalise it all, thereby eliminating shareholders.

Bring in high quality, publically elected executives to run it and make a profit.

This way 100% of profits could be reinvested into improving and expanding the network.

I never use public transport.

London busses and the trains are the transport of last resort for most thinking people.

They are slow, dirty, very expensive and badly organised and used by the kind of people I do not wish to travel with.

I doubt I will live long enough to see any real improvement. Certainly not with the present government

Short of nationalisation it cannot be improved.

I'll keep my car despite any Government tactics.

It would be vastly improved by banning 'pikeys' from using it.
