Does London have ATMs or do you have to withdraw money from within the bank?

Uh, it's a major city! ATMs all over the place. Double check with your bank at home about withdrawl charges...they can be killer.

kirrii
There are ATMs all over the place, however many banks in Central London have also got ATMs within the bank premises and this is a little safer than out on the street. Some have a walk in ATM service even when there are no staff on duty.

Lol of course there are Atms everywhere...

ATM's are all over the place in London. You can withdraw money in supermarkets also at the tills. At supermarkets just ask for a cashback.

kkoh
yeah we have atms over here, mostly all banks have a cash machine outside which is open for use 24 hours.

be wary of 'link' cash machines though, they charge about £1.50 per transaction. however, they do warn you about the charges before you withdraw any money. otherwise, the cash machines are usually free.

london has thousand of atms - just be careful because some inshops and petrol stations charge a fee. use the onesoutside

Yes - London does have ATMs. The major banks have ATMs in the outside walls of their branches (the Brits call these things 'holes in the walls' or 'cash machines' for this reason - if you ask about an 'ATM' you might get a blank stare, but they do have them everywhere). Banking is mostly free in the UK but be careful about using Visa or other credit cards, as you may be in for two charges: the currency conversion charge, plus a credit card company charge. If you only have a US card, be prepared for 1 to 3% (or more) extra commission on your withdrawal. Ask inside the first time to see what the charge is likely to be.

No, you have to go into the Bank and speak to the Bank Manager and if he knows you and is willing to vouch for your character then he will ask one of the duty tellers to go to the big vault in the back and get the amount of money you require which will have to be signed for in a big ledger....
