I am Polish, but I spent my first 9 months in the UK in Scotland. Never had any problems with understanding the folk, but there is bl..dy too cold for me there! I need sun and warmth and trees... (Living in Bristol now)

If you are English however, they may try to make things more difficult to you... They don't like English, you know...

No. no one lives in Scotland. And there's a reason: No one wants to!
It's cold as, it'ss too hilly, you can't understand a word anyone says and it's really cold : ( And as for the slang thing, just say 'wee' a lot and lad, lassy, celtic (fc), haggis and stuff.
It'll be great!
