Yes, moved here from Canada 15 years ago. Although, most English people don't believe it, I have had much better jobs and general life experiences here. different strokes for different folks and all that. I love the history here, and work in the heritage sector. The scenery is fantastic and varied and you don't have to travel hundreds of miles to see it. You can go on cheap holidays to Europe from here. We may moan about trains and buses being unreliable, buy hey, at least there is a large varied network of services, even if they are not perfect. You get 4 weeks paid leave here--hurrah! The nhs--again, we moan and sure, some things are not right, but just think what it would be like if you had to take regular medication in some country where, for instance, prescriptions were for the full whack--the cost of the pills as well as dispensing.
People go on about crime & so forth, and yes, we all know there are problems, but I really don't get where English people think that they are the 'worst'. Check the world crime stats! Britain may be high in the 'petty' crime figures but is still lower than most, including places like canada & Australia, for serious crimes like murder, gun crime & rape.
another thing people gripe about is the weather. OK it rains. Rain is not necessarily a bad thing. better a cool damp climate than a drought-torn dustbowl, monsoons,tornados,flashfires--all those things that can come with 'hot' climates. And why does no one jeer the weather in Belgium,Germany, Scandinavia etc. It's not exactly warm and sunny there either. I have been through Belgium umpteen times and have never once seen the sun--seriously--as there has always been a cap of low, dull, freezing foggy cloud!

Yes, I've never left Royston Vasey.

Yea, I live on the coast in Yorkshire and love it. Especially in winter when the sea is rough and there are no tourists around.

It's ok. But It can't be too bad what with immigrants coming here with nothing continue coming and bringing their families!!

Falling leaves
I love the UK. There is so much diversity beautiful villages, massive cities that are buzzing, the quiet tranquil countryside the beaches particularly Dorset,Cornwall and so many to name in Ireland!
Along with the mixes of cultures where we take so many bits from each community and become this wonderful mix.
Have spent time here and abroad but nothing beats home and for me thats London.

I love living here....fair enough, some area's may not be as appealing as others...but every country has its problems!

miss (chocolate) starfish
yes I do
I live in London , moved here 6 years ago , it was my choice , very happy

Gaspode the wonder dog
I lived in the UK until four years ago and moved permanently to the Canary Islands.
I miss the pubs, the beer, the green rolling hills, the British sense of humour, the reliability (yes!) of the civil service, a basically honest and competent police force, mostly reliable service industries.
It's lovely here. I am sat with the sun pouring in through the open window and I am 10 seconds from the beach, but I have to put up with:
surly tapas serving bar staff with only lager served,
Brown volcanic scrub land.
Canarian incompetence and a shoulder-shrugging indifference.
A corrupt police force.
Medical and social administration which has a left hand/right hand problem.
I love living here, but I love coming back to the UK for its sheer efficiency, grandeur, scenery and good humour. (Back next week for two weeks! Yay!)

Yes all the immigrants.

'Er indoors!!
Up until 20 years ago it was. I now live in Cornwall, which is one of the only decent Counties left where it is still safe to walk the streets at night. As soon as it starts going downhill, like the rest of England, I am off to live in Sweden.

najam-us-saqib
