i loved the beatles for their music but the scouse accent is the worst noise in the country.they should be taught to speak before being released from liverpool into the world. |

Yes, I think it's great.
Regional accents have been in decline in the United Kingdom for the last hundred years or so, mainly due to the increase in availability of personal and public transport, the reduction in employment in agriculture (thus necessitating travel to find work) so it is encouraging to find people who seem proud of how they speak.
I have recently been in Exeter and East Anglia and heard no trace of the rural accent which one might hope would have been present. Perhaps it is still there amongst the older generation or in isolated communities, but 'estuary English' seems to have taken over the whole south.
Other distinguishable accents to note are those of Birmingham, Yorkshire and Lancashire. |

I love the accent, it seems to go with the sense of humour that Liverpudlians have, my best mate at work is from "The Poool" I could listen to her all day. |

I think it's kind of cute ... but I find it difficult to take a scouser seriously because the accent makes me think of a joker |

I Have relatives in Liverpool, there all female and teenage (except their mother) so i can only comment on that genre of accent. So yeah, to be honest i can alittle whiney and downtonal; i find they stretch out their "o's" so its more like "Liiverpoool." The "A's" as well can be alittle harsh and groney; so insteasy of "baby" its like "Bay-Be."
I myself have never been to liverpool so my only refernce is my 3 cousins and my aunt, so i dont really know about male accents.
To be honest, any accent can sound nice if you speak it write. its more about what type of voice you have and how you say things that determin how good you sound etc.
Hope that helped x |

People from Liverpool don't have an accent....it's everybody else that does! |

Liverpool shares with Tyneside the No1 position for the region with the worst spoken English (I exclude non-indigenous people). The Liverpool accent, however is a harbinger of intrusive, rude, aggressive people who are quick to both give and take offence.
Lacking the charm of Devon and Norfolk, the grit of Yorkshire and the sophistication of parts of the Home Counties, the Liverpool accent is, for me, a 'Keep Clear' sign. |
