yes.. we have cable and satellite tv.. and yes we watch South Park Simpsons, CSI and other American shows. And yes, the village idiots and those with an IQ less than 13 watch Family Guy too.
Your view of England being 15th century is a stupid false stereotype just like saying all Americans are stupid (However, your question has really supported that stereotype rofl).

Young man,

We do not go in for all this modern clap-trap such and television sets the telephone and the internet. WE do not have MP3 players, DVD recorders or cable. No decent English man would allow a computer in his home and to him 'a mouse' is a small furry rodent, a 'dish' is something used in the consumption of food and the word 'CD' would be mistaken for 'seedy' - meaning small and somewhat nasty.

The average Englishman will partake in such joviality as dressing up in coats covered in buttons (called a pearly king or queen) or dressing up in bright clothes while dancing around waving a stick and singing 'hey nonny nonny' at the top of his voice.

You will find it most quaint here.

Enjoy!

We have everything in the UK that you have in America and more besides - of course we have televisions and cell phones and computers - you name it we got it. In fact our Sky Satellite TV system out performs yours - we can go 'interactive' with the TV and order goods on the TV using only the TV remote as well as watching ball games from different angles on the same channel and playing games from the TV station (as well as plugged in Wii, playstations, Xbox etc.)

for what it's worth I have a 42" Plasma TV - large size plasma and LCD TVs are quite common in England.

And yes unfortunately many of the TV channels do show a great many American shows.

NeoNerd
I'm currently using the only computer in the UK to answer this - there are teams of men running on a treadmill to power it.

Electric light has only just reached us, but is denounced as a modern encumbrance by the Church, so we all use candles. We have no TV's, except for the one owned by the Prime Minister, in his thatched cottage in Ye Olde Londonne.

Cars don't exist, as we all have horse drawn carriages. Only 5% of our roads are paved, but we're getting there!

Our national dress is a tail coat and top hat.

I could not read your question, due to there being no computers in the UK.

If England didn't have TV, producers in Hollywood and New York might have to get shows from books or podcast instead of just ripping of BBC shows. Doctor Who comes from the UK

Fizz
I am afraid that what you have seen on the TV is true, I have heard that London has those Televisual device thingies but I am not sure if it's true.
But your friend will not be disappointed as we all live in creepy haunted castles and have Lurch type butlers with funny teeth and hunchbacks and wear Victorian clobber.
We all dress like Robin Hood and Maid Marian in our Hamlet but in the next village( they are a rather strange bunch) they dress like The Artful Dodger, Fagin and Nancy.
The ladies outfits are a bit to revealing in my opinion
But they call it progress.

NONAME
how do you think us Brits can answer you on y!a if we are still in the 15th century?

i'm assuming you were joking... but yes we have tvs and yes we watch south park etc.

fritya56
Many people assume Americans are mindless idiots who watch and are addicted to T.V. and suffer a " did you watch it " sense of humour , I am not because your friend is obviously intelligent with an interest in History and STUFF . The nt in " she was to see castles and stuff " is missing ( get it get it ) i'll assume .

Television was discovered by a Scot, the internet by an Englishman.
The USA has so far provided us with ????.

A piece of advice - If you visit castles in Wales or Scotland,DON'T mention The 'E' word!
You are the proof, why America is the most dangerous country in the world!

Kid B
Yes there are a few TVs. But you can only find them in museums nowadays. England is so technologically advanced, that we have chips in our head that transmit the information electronically direct to our brains.

- And yes, you can watch Family Guy and South Park!

Do we have tvs?? Well, since it was a Scot who invented it, I would take it as a given that we have them. (I'm assuming you are one of the uneducated Americans who thinks that Britain means England) Numpty!

By the way we also gave you penicillan, tarmac for your roads, the telephone, radar and founded your US Navy as well as other things to many to mention here, so give over with the 'is it still like the 15th century' I sincerely hope you are taking the p*ss because if you're not then can you blame us for thinking that most Americans are as thick as two short planks?

I love any thing technological...but,I have to have an underling to show me how to work the damn things. Most of it is utter nonsense, and best left to the chattering classes. As long as I have a drink in one hand and a voluptuous young lady in the other,I could not give damn about modern to$$.Good day to you..
