Quite a few places already accept Euros. If everywhere accepted them we could have both currencies, people could use whichever one that wanted and there'd be no need for visitors to exchange money - best of both worlds; just like it is with the English and Scottish currencies. |

And have prices rise even more like they have in France Portugal and Greece??
I don't think so! |

The pound is far too strong right now to throw it all away on a notion. Plus, Europe would be only too happy to take us down a few notches when control was handed over. |

No we shouldn't. We need to keep our individuality, and our currency! |

You really have not got a clue....
For the time being we should crasp on to our £'s |

Converting to euros would've meant handing over control to Brussels, which would've meant no local government control here in Britain. We would not be allowed a say in local issues, as we are now (sure, our views still get ignored now, but at least we have a say!). |

No. Look at our exchange rate, we have stayed relatively stable while countries usually stable (Germany, Austria and Ireland) have lost many hundreds of millions. |

No. I prefer Britain to what he is today. |

I argue with my wife over this.. I am for the Euro she is against. One of my arguments is that because we are trading much more with our european neighbours you can really see the difference in prices that we as a non Euro country are paying for goods and services than our Euro using nations. I think we pay over the odds for stuff and if we were on the Euro we would see this more easily and would actually have the government and retailers worried at what they could charge us.Stop being anti European and go the whole hog I say ! |

Considering that the conversion rate from Euro to GBP is almost fixed, yes that is a bit stupid.
The decision to wait and see was right 5 years ago.
However, it looks like the Euro is here to stay. |

Those who travel to Europe all the time spend more on charges for converting money than is reasonable. Yes, its probable that all the shop keepers will hoick up the prices, but maybe they could put up both prices so we could make a comparison. I want the country to be Euro rather than the pound. If we are part of the United States of Europe why not go all the way? |

Economic madness to adopt the €. I'd go further. UK should leave the European Union and become an Associate member. It is not democratic; e.g, you cannot throw out the council of ministers (who make the rules) and elect others (or didn't you know that?) It was started to prevent the Germans from causing any more wars - that has been achieved many times over. Now it is just a club to subsidize peasant farmers, starting with the French, at the expense of more successful economies. By the way, did you know that an EU bureaucrat in Brussels or elsewhere cannot be prosecuted for anything, EVER. |

That really would be the final nail in the coffin of this country if we went over to the euro....for those of you who love the euro so much...go live where it is used and leave us as we are thank you very much! |

Not really. we have to wait another 50 years and after that may be we can have euros when everyone will be completely fed up with constant exchange from one currency to another |

Yes. But it ought to be called the Thaler (An ancient pan-European currency which the dollar is named after. The famous pieces of eight.) Just to remind our American cousins we were there first. |

Yes, I do. If the UK wants to be part of Europe and have all the benefits of it, than why not take the currency as well? Or is it the old rule Britannia all over again? |
|

We would lose the ability to control the value of our currency....but it has helped trade mushroom across europe so it may not be a bad idea.
Not that I care ... I'm moving. |
