EASY JET !! Help?

My G/F has booked flights through easy jet, on the booking she has shortened my name from stephen to steve,(my passport says stephen)i have been trying to get hold of easy jet to see if this will cause a problem and if so change it but its a premium rate line - 65p a min and i have been holding on of ages and got nowhere, online you can change the passengers but not the spelling and the cost is just under £100 !! so i do i keep plugging away or will i get away with it ?

Don't waste your money.

I always travel as Andy. My passport says Andrew...

There goes my anonymity!

are you ringing the number that you found on Internet? They haven't got anything bout changing spelling. you'll have to put it as changing passenger which will cost you approximately 45£.
Otherwise, you may try to give a bell to nearest travel agency and ask them for help, coz ppl in easy jet will listen to them coz they are important:) Usual thing:)
And where are you flying?

OriginalBubble
It depends on where you are going to I would image. Maybe ask a travel agency?

probably cheapest to buy a new ticket. Most airlines are now charging a fortune to change names that have been misspelled on online bookings and the names have to match the passport exactly (that can be a problem for me when International booking sites won't even let me spell my name correctly).

Should not be a problem I've travelled under Maggie quite often but my name is Margaret on my passport. No one has ever mentioned it.

You can either keep trying to phone them or if your local airport is nearby then you could try going there and speaking to customer services directly. You may get away with it if the rest of the details are correct.

I don't suppose it matters if the airport you go to is not the one you are going to fly from as long as they have an Easy Jet terminal. You could also try the contact us email on their web page if the flights are not for a little while and someone should theoretically get back to you within 24 - 48 hours.

better to be safe than sorry! in light of the recent events security's quite high - i'd make sure the name gets changed, else ur holiday might just go on without u!

just leave it, every thing will be fine in the end

I dont think it will be a problem. They know that Steve is short for Stephen. I think you are safe. Phone a travel agency and ask their opinion. They will know.

comostreet
It's Ok, don't keep phoning them. If it's a UK domestic flight it will almost certainly be fine.

Not so 'Lucky' Steve

You shouldn´t have any problems - I deal with Travel Agents all day and Steve or Stephen should not create any problems as long as the main initial is S. The main problem is when people have a nickname but it is not their real initial (like Liz - but they are really Elizabeth) So don´t worry you will be ok

geoff t
I have been flying for many years and a number of times with EasyJet,the name on my passport says Geoffrey and most of the time my tickets are booked as Geoff.Do not worry it is highly unlikely that anyone will notice.

peggy*moo
I shouldn't imagine that would be a problem - I am pretty sure I have travelled when my tickets say the common short version of my rather long name.

rosegardenpt
I work for an airline and it's OK!!! The problem is when the name is completely different. But Steve is a diminutive so there's no problem. We get that all the time at the airport.
