well when it snows here the whole country grounds to a halt because normally their not prepared for it
there have been the occasional freak tornadoes that have hit the north of England but they seem to last no more than 10/15mins
at the moment the news is full of stories about the Great Storm (that was not predicted) that happened back in 1987 and they're still talking about it now check out the BBC website they probably have some updates on there

England natural hazards

Climate: Flooding, Gale force winds, Blizzards, Frostbite (if your unlucky on the mountains in winter). Very rare crappy tornadoes that destroy tiny parts of a city.

Animals: Deer (yes!) Badgers (also yes!) and wild boar can be very nasty. If your really unlucky you might run into a wild puma. (they don't officially exist here but there have been thousands of sightings.)

I can imagine how tame that must look like compared to Canada's. ie bears, wolves etc!

Nick C
Do you mean natural hazards??
Not much I suppose, lightning, falling trees, getting stranded by the tide, no nasty insects or large predators so pretty safe all in all.

We don't have tornadoes very often but it can get quite damp.

I once saw the wind blow our bins over and made the windows rattle quite a bit.

Our single biggest hazard are the lawless scum who would rob their own grannies and let you bleed to death in the street rather than help you.

Fortunately most of us are quite charming and love our Commonwealth cousins. :-)

England is a fairly safe place to be, all our wild beasts are very polite, If you simply wave your hand at a fly here, it gets the message and leaves you alone. I find foreign flies have an attitude problem though I'm sure Candian flies are well mannered! Our current habit of building houses on old duck ponds and swampy ground has led to complaints about humidity, happily one of our Dukes has invented sturdy rubber boots, posh people wear green ones and common peasants wear black so there's nothing else to worry about now!

Rommel
Governments are the only national hazards we have............i cant think of any others really. our country's kind of mild))) even the weather is mostly apologetic and polite. thats nice of you to say . ( about our accent) actualy i love the Canadian accent. it has a lovely rounded feel about it. i love to hear germans talking too. some thing strangely comforting about it. i dont know why?? still!! I'm waffeling now arent I ha ha sorry!!!......(all the best to you.) AHH!! i just remembered. we do have a lot of flooding......does that count??

Nothing life threatening normally. Heavy rain at any time of the year but is usually well forecast. Apart from mountainous areas, there is very little snow now compared to, say, forty years ago. Beware of gangs of mindless morons who are capable of anything, especially at night.

Neely O'Hara
There are places in England that flood regularly (somewhere floods every year, but it's rarely the same areas two years in a row).

We have occasional gale force winds - very, VERY few tornadoes.

Very occasional, mild earth tremors.

All in all, England is, geographically, a really safe place to live.
