Give me some valid reasons as to what makes this country great! Because really, I cannot see what is so great about this country. Here are my resons as to why this country is nothing to be proud of!!
1. The NHS is falling apart!
2. Violence in schools is growing!!
3. School standards are falling!!
4. Crime is increasing!!
5. The immigration system is a total shambles
6. House prices are rising at such an alarming rate!
7. Debt and those applying for bankrupcy is at its highest than it has ever been.

And I could go on!!

Because we've been very effective roving theives and thugs for a lot longer than many other countries, so now we have lots of plundered ill-gotten gains t fund our economy and education system... plus, we're a pretty creative, industrious bunch... probably because the weather is so cold that if you sit around, you freeze your.... socks off ;-)

Love your 2 questions, nothing like stirring up a bit of rivalry, at least it's quite friendly (I think)??

What I would say is that I have met a lot of great people (amazing), some of them were even English. They have some really great (fab) cities but a huge problem with with race division in some places that's common to both countries.

I think England has a worse problem, more of it, just because the problem has had longer to fester, growing up in Scotland I was about 14 before I saw someone who wasn't white in the flesh - really. The government allowed communities to exist within communities, people were allowed to come here and make no attempt to integrate, allowed to follow there way of life and shun ours. Try going to Saudi or Iran and walking down the street in a mini skirt swigging a bottle of beer, or even expressing your opinion about the government there. (I'm on a rant now). Tell them you can't be arsed working and could they give you a house and some money each week to keep you on your breeding program?

Now we have a situation where our government has lost a grip on immigration completely and he are filling up with Eastern European gangsters, we have home grown Muslim terrorists it is a bloody joke.

People are killed and discriminated against for the colour of there skin in both countries, shame on us all. However show me where that doesn't happen, if it's not skin colour it's religion or sex.

Both have a great past and achievements and people to be proud of (and some less so), Scotland and England are great countries, the clock is ticking on this.

Yes we are-At last someone is being positive about the UK.
We live in a country where no-one is really starving,cos we have a good welfare system.If we don't like something we all have the option to speak our minds without fear or persecution.
Most of us have a reasonable standard of living and we have the option to learn and be educated.
If we are in need we can be housed by the local council.
Most of us show respect to others and consideration when there is a crisis,we always move out of the way when emergancy sevices need priority.
I love living in England and there are worse places to live-I've seen it,the old shacks by the river in Thailand-It was heartbreaking to see.
It's just a shame that some people spoil it by making others unhappy by doing nasty things.
