maybe you should have asked this when it wasn't 3am in the UK, and you would of got decent answers from actual Britons who know what they are talking about.

England is just England, the largest constituent country of Great Britain and the UK

Great Britain is the Island containing England, Scotland and Wales

The United Kingdom, or in full the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) plus Northern Ireland

The flag of England - The St Georges Cross http://www.threeskins.com/acatalog/st1004_s.jpg

THe flag of the UK and GB - THe Union flag, commonly called the Union Jack, but it should only be called that when it is flown on a jack mast at sea

Edit: No I'm actually well out of kindergarten and know where England is. Pay attention in school and do your own work and you may learn something. Talk about rude!

England is one of the constituent countries that make up the United Kingdom, along with Scotland, Wales, and the principality of Northern Ireland. Great Britain is the name of the island upon which England, Scotland and Wales (but not Northern Ireland) are located.

England's capital city is London.

England's flag is white with a thin red cross.

Why the thumbs down? I'm from Wales, live in England and have visited Scotland and Northern Ireland so I think I'm fairly qualified!

drarryfan246 - No, England and Great Britain are not the same thing, and many people in Wales, Scotland and NI would be quite insulted by your statement! The flag you describe is that of the United Kingdom which includes Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) and Northern Ireland.

To reply to the askers edit; many of those places you mention aren't countries (and wont have flags);

Paris is the capital of France
Italy is indeed a country :)
I think Aden is in Yemen but I could be wrong
Bombay and Calcutta are both cities in India.
Singapore is a country :)
Hong Kong is a country :)
ShangHai is a city in China
Yokahoma is a city in Japan
Dublin is the capital city of Ireland

It does worry me that people know so little about the world.

England is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

It is not a city; the largest British city is London : population 8-9 million, almost as big as NYC.

The UK, of which England is part, is 25 miles NW of Calais, France.

Our flag is the Union Jack (UK) or for England, St. Georges Cross ( red vertical and horizontals on a white background)

Actually, England is a country which is part of the United Kingdom. England shares borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. The capital is London, the largest urban area in Britain. Now, about the flag, I cant find a small flag but it is white and a red cross. You can go to google images and put Flag of England. Hope it helped..

A division of the United Kingdom, the southern part of the island of Great Britain. Originally settled by Celtic peoples, it was subsequently conquered by Romans, Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Danes, and Normans. Acts of union joined England with Wales in 1536, with Scotland in 1707 to create the political entity of Great Britain, and with Ireland in 1801 to form the United Kingdom. London is the capital and the largest city of both England and the United Kingdom. Population: 50,800,000.

No England is in Scotland. Its flag is a big yellow smile :)

England is part of Great Britain ( also known as the United Kingdom), so is Whales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. England is a country in Great Britain.

drarryfan246
England is also known as Great Britain, for school purposes they are interchangable (the same thing). England is in Europe and is an island, you can find it easily on a map or globe. England is a country not a city. One city in England is London. Since you don't want links it makes it kind of hard to give you a picture of the flag, but the description is a blue background, sort of a red cross in the middle, and a white outline. You only have to google "english flag" to get a picture of it though. It's easy enough.

beachbunny0303
england is indeed in great britain (its a country). great britain is also known as the united kingdom which consist of england, scotland and whales.
