I think that foreign immigrants should be forced to adopt English culture. Too many people come to our country for the free education and NHS and then knock us and add nothing to society. In some areas of London, there are ghetto's where no one speaks English. And i'm fed up with the fact that this country has to change for them.

By the way I am mixed-race. I am not racist. But I AM British first and foremost. People need to understand where they live. And if you cannot tolerate being British then do not live here.

The government needs a backbone and not to be afraid to upset people.
eg changing the name of the christmas lights in a big city to the winter festival lights. We are a predominately christian society and it is a absoloute disgrace the government and councils do things like this. in all due respect if a few thousand brits went to live in india you think that they would rename ramadan?! For some reason there is also a fear of backlash for deporting people! why? they came here illegally i mean i cant understand that. If they (visitors/tourists/immigrants) are here legally then fine no problem, i mean in no way am i a racist or prejudiced person at all.
I used to be proud to be british but the government just cannot bow down and throw away british tradition like that, its shocking. I also think people need more authority, police are off being support officers i mean wtf? why arent they on real jobs like for want of a better phrase "pounding the beat" instead of talking to chavs?
the whole governmental system needs revamped, we need a harsher convictions to crime rate (if these means a few extra prisons, build them, the government gets 51p per Â£1 of petrol sold, 17.5%tax on everything etc so have no money shortage). There was millions and millions poured into the millenium dome, what for? the original plan was to demolish it after a few years, a prime example of government and councils wasting money.
I do not blame any particular council or government (tory etc) but the whole current system is terrible.

If these things were changed (and obviously theres more than just the things io have mentioned) then at least British people would once again be proud to be British and not in a way ashamed, as i am sure many are.

Unified action against immigration and to stop the war in Iraq.
More people power, instead of the government making decisions without the peoples backing.

To stop the government from destroying our culture and traditions in favour of others!

I agree with most of the people on here. We desperately need a government with balls, less alliance with the USA, decent education, get rid of chavs, stop selling off council houses and make housing affordable to all - renting as well as buying and stop pandering to the lowest common denominator - allow people to use their brains when reading newspapers or watching TV!!

Less of the negative attitude from our media.....Britain is a good place. Yes things could be better, less crime, better education, improved NHS, but this would mean more tax...and most people would struggle to afford that.
