Even if you BOOK a room at TRAVELODGE, is it true that there is a HIGH chance you WONT GET A ROOM?

Mr Sceptic
If you book there and don't pay up front, they will let your room if you don't check in by 1600.

So if you book, but don't pay and don't let them know what time you'll arrive, then yes, you might not get your room.

No, I use travelodge, probably about once every two months.....never had a problem

No never had any problems when i have booked them

The truth is you will probably get a room, however, if you leave it too late to check in, you may be told the room is already booked. You will then be offered a room at a nearby Travelodge and may be offered a taxi ride there. Travelodge admit to overbooking. It is part of their policy called 'Last Man Standing'. This is to ensure 100% take up of their rooms, even though that means upsetting customers. The best advice - don't risk it. There are plenty of other reasonably cheap hotel chains around if you have to book in advance. Hope this helps.

according to watchdog its true. get there as soon as check in time opens at 3pm

EarthCalling
No.

No, I don't think so.

In general, if you book a room at any hotel, and as long as you secure your reservation with a credit card, you will get your reservation. Make sure you understand how late in the evening you can be before the reservation is given to someone else.

Note that in general hotels are pretty lame about reserving smoking versus non-smoking rooms, so if you book far in advance, you should call the week of (or even the day of) to make sure you get a room that meets your specs.

I've only once not had a room, but once in a while I get a room that is the wrong config and I have to get it changed.

Travelodge in the UK says on their website that they typically overbook rooms knowing that some travelers won't turn up. They say they will find you another place to stay if you lose your room but I'd say check in early if at all possible or call on the day, make sure they have a credit card number for you, and let them know what time you are arriving.

brainstorm
yes they always overbook. If you arrive after everybody else you won't get a room even if you booked months before

Savannah
my dad travels alot and he says that it is best just going into the travellodge and asking for a room.

my friend works at the local one and she says you get a better room if you dont book.

yes there is a chance you will not get the room. they overbook their rooms as seen on BBCwatchdog. this is their company policy

i just watched a watchdog on this the other day....
they have a policy of over booking, so basically if you are late then you have a high chance of not getting a room even if you have booked waaay waay in advance. they call this the "last man standing" policy and they say that it's their way to keep their prices low because it means that 100% of their rooms will always be full, creating more revinue.
they will however try to find a room for you in another local (although this can be miles away because they are all so spread out) travelodge, but you will have to find your own way there.
basically if you pick a travelodge in a busy place on a popular night then you could easily end up with no room, so if you're going then get there in plenty of time!

according to watchdog - they overbook and give peoples rooms away even when they are paid for - they will try and find u another room in a nearby travel lodge..but it could be a distance. I have never used them but it was on watchdog this week

Robert
No, once it's booked it's yours. They normally take cost off credit card or at least deposit then you are guaranteed it's yours.

yes. therewas a programme on this week [it might have been Watchdog] which says that Travelodge have a policy of deliberately overbooking so they keep their rooms at maximum capacity. if you book and dont get in where you have booked they will direct you to the nearest travellodge with vacancies

There is a high chance that you won't get the room at the cheaper rate. The staff are all scruffy students, wearing flip flops or shoes with broken heels and don't look too close in the corners of the room if you know what I mean !!!

intriguedtravel
This is why you should book through your travel agent. They have accurate inventory information.
