Please do not listen to the likes of Basement Bob and Kiki! I have lived in Glasgow all my life and am very proud to do so. It is a very beautiful city with fantastic parks, museums, pubs, clubs, restaurants and shops. There really is so much to see and do. The people are also very friendly which makes it the best City in Britain (maybe even the world!)

We are friendly sociable people but our city is being taken over by refugees, certain areas on the city borders are 90% Asians, African, polish people. Thankfully I live in a new town outside city where the immigrants dont want to live.

I have been to Glasgow numerous times. I go there every year for the "Celtic Connections" festival (a yearly music week-long festival that draws musical and performing artists from all over the world!).

I always have a great time in Glasgow. It is easy to get your bearings, easy to get around, and the people are very friendly. Sure, Glasgow is not as glamourous as say, London, Paris, or Rome, but it has its merits in its own right.

Glasgow is just like any other European city you would visit. The public transportation system is great - allows you to go everywhere and anywhere affordably and expediently. The people are friendly, down-to-earth, and hospitable. The city is as clean as any other city.

But what really endears me to Glasgow is the 'hometown' feeling you get despite it being a city. People there are casual, laid back, and do not put on 'airs' as some do in other cities.

please ignore basement bob,
I have lived in both Glasgow and Aberdeen and there is no comparison between the two.
Aberdeen folk pretend to be posh, are not very friendly to strangers ,It is very expensive to stay there and they have seagulls everywhere....
In Glasgow, the people are warm and friendly, it is a wonderful sporting and shopping area and is constantly moving with the times.
Ps
Don't even think about Edinburgh, it's worse too touristy and arty farty types

My b.f. is from Glasgow but long before I met him I just loved Glasgow. You just cannot beat it for a night out and laugh, you will pee yourself. The people are so warm and helpful and I am not joking. Just ignore all the gubbins on the t.v. about the violence = its probably not as bad as cities in England or exaggerated because when its bad its quick. But I would not advise you to call any man "Jimmy", then you will experience what is called the "Glasgae Kiss" before you blink. I admire them for their complete honesty and the fact they can stick up for themselves and laugh at all the bad stories about knifings but you have to be involved with bad people . Nobody in Glasgow will harm you just enjoy you will be surprised how fashion conscious they are and cool as fuccck, don't underestimate a Weedgie. Have a superb time. As for culture, it is fabulous. Glasgow has fantastic art galleries etc., and restaurants. Can we come with you?

See for yourself!
I moved to Glasgow in 1988 and never looked back!

View George Square live, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through Glasgow City Council's web cameras ... Each camera comes with a Java and non-Java version. ...

its a great place to live in or visit it has good and bad in it just like anywhere else ok so the weathers not great but the people are warm and friendly theres plenty of shopping centres places to eat and drink also plenty to see and do check out some web sites already listed and you will see for yourself id go and take a look for yourself you wont be disapointed

Phoebs
Hiya!

Glasgow is absolutely the best place to go shopping! There is something for everyone. The restaurants and nightlife are good too!

With the cheap air carriers that are round at the mo you can get a really great deal! Early flight up in the morning, and late flight back at night. Although if nightlife is your main reason I would suggest Edinburgh and this tips Glasgow, although not on the shopping front. For this Glasgow can't be beaten!

Have a great time! Be thinking of you!

I lived there for a year and had a great time. Plenty to see and do. Some brilliant architecture and town planning.

Glasgow has something for everyone - museums, parks, cinema, theatre and of course, shopping!!!!!!! It's also very handy for exploring places like Loch Lomond, Ayrshire and other scenic parts of the west of Scotland. Visit the tourist board site for further information, and don't let some of the idiots on here put you off - what major city DOESN'T have a drugs/crime problem?????

stephie_29robb
Yes, and it's very cold and wet and I went in August!
There are lots of thing to do like any big city really like large cinema, museums of anything you can think of.
If you are thinking of going for a holiday then I recommend taking the tour bus because
(a it is a cheap way to travel.
(b it stops of at all the main tourist attractions
(c you can get on and off any time and anywhere through out the day
(d one ticket lasts the whole day
(e you get a tour of Glasgow and you get shown the best places to go to!
