1. Britain is not still floundering in the 18th century, we can date the same as in any other 1st world country.
2. The country is large enough to house many different regional accents, yes.
What odd and obvious questions. |

1. More and more people now find online dating acceptable. Which is lucky, considering more and more people spend their lives online and are losing the social skills required to go out and find a partner...
2. Most geographical regions have their own distinctive accents and dialects. These are narrowed down even further in a smaller area (eg: a Yorkshireman can generally distinguish between a Leeds accent and a Bradford accent; a Leeds native can distinguish between a Headingley accent and a Hunslet accent.)
Hope that helps... |

Dating? Who uses the word 'dating' any more? That was something that your Great Grandparents did! |

Dating in the UK is like anywhere else. Most people want to be in a loving relationship and are on the look out for Mr or Mrs right, if you know what I mean?
Oh, yes, dialects around the Uk are so varied that if a Yorkshire woman like me visits Liverpool or Glasgow, or a dozen other places; I can't understand them and they certainly can't understand me! On a holiday to America, years ago, many people that I spoke to, thought I was Australian instead of a Yorkshire lass. Good luck with your research. |

Not an easy question that one!!!!
Apparently there are over 200 dialects in London, but that includes immigrants.
Views on dating depend on ethnic background.
There is no such thing as a "True British Person" the nearest that come to it are the Celts and they are said to have progressed through Germany and France.
The UK is a race of mongrels, don't let anyone tell you anything different.

Dating is widespread, across all age groups and between ppl of all ethnic and or religious backgrounds.
Regarding dialect, we have many of our own, regional and by country (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all part of Britain, not just England).
In some schools, especially inner city schools, as many as 50 or more countries can be represented. |

Dialects vary accross the UK. What many people think of as Geordie includes many different types of Dialect, for example Northumbrian, Geordie, Mackam etc. The UK is full of dialects, you can find info about many of these on wikipedia! |

Dating in Britain is dead easy and you can even do it on-line if you wish. The most recent dating craze is called "speed dating". Boy meets girl at a venue they chat for a couple of minutes, if no bells ring then they look for someone else. There are usually lots of people at these events - late teens to early 30s.
If you don't like any of the above, you can join a dating agency. Dating agencies come in all shapes and sizes so you can pick and choose. Again you can contact these on-line. Fill out a form and tell them all about you and the sort of girl you wish to date/meet etc...
Accents in UK are many and varied. Here in London the common accent of the people is either London Cockney [very fast and with lots of ends cut off words plus an entire virtual language of Cockney Rhyming slang - far too complex to explain here].
Almost literally in UK accents vary from town to town and certainly from one county to the next. My accent is a touch of Kent with a mix of Hampshire and Sussex. Most people just assume I'm a Londoner - well! Okay.
I was born in UK [Birmingham] in 1941 - so I have a pretty good idea of what UK accents sound like. Some are very difficult to follow, even for the natives, born and bred here.
But, don't worry, you will do fine. Most people will take the time to listen to you and explain what it is you want to know. |
