Friendliest places to live in the UK?

I'm 20, live in a town full of absolute arseholes, I mean you get some everywhere, but this place is full of them. Could anybody please tell me a good place for a 20 year old male who wants to make a start in life to move to? Friendly people, affordable prices, maybe a few nightclubs, open to anything really. Thanks.

Newcastle upon Tyne. The people are great, the prices are affordable for living (well, maybe not in Jesmond/Gosforth, but then they're the poshest parts). The nightlife is rumoured to be something else, and seems to be, however as a non-drinker - i've never had the opportunity to sample it! It also doesnt help when the last X10 back to Stockton is at 7pm lol

Brighton.

There are two universities in Brighton, lots of people your age.

Dunno what's with the thumbs down. Brighton is cool I went to University there. Lots to do, lots of work too. It hosts a large arts festival rivalling Edinburgh. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/travel/article3812547.ece

I used to think like you but could you consider to remain in town and ignore the people which don't make you feel welcome?!OK, saying this you might think that I don't know what I am talking about but trust me, I do.

A town can have either good and bad people, I don't believe is full of bad people... I think you are generalising a bit as you're hurt for some reason. Just live your life and in last resort move to some other place in the same town as moving somewhere unknown might be as just the same.

P.S - Do remember that anywhere in the world - either a Country, City, Town, etc - has good and bad people, is no certain place full of bad people. Just have a think and maybe get some professional advise then make your choice.

The best of luck for you.

Oxford -

Literally thousands of students, a great night life, pubs etc.

I spent many years there and really loved it.

I made so many friends there, some I am still in contact with.
