It always makes me want to go, "Awwww" (like you would do if you saw a kitten playing with a ball of yarn) when I hear people talking about Glasgow and culture in the same sentence. The poor wee Weegies actually think they have some! They don't see the joke and that's what makes them adorable. Remember way back in the day when they were deemed 'city of culture' and were doing their pathetic best to lord it over their Edinburgh masters? The poor things - they had no idea that it was all one big ruse to take the pi.ss out of them yet again! You still don't get it? No? I know, I know... Glaswegians were never too bright. Let me see, how can I get you to see the joke that you have absolutely nothing worth going to see? Hmm... Oh yeah! Remember that fat, loud mouthed bit.ch from Big Brother? She was apparently a former model!!!!!!!!! Just like Glaswegian, ahem, 'people', she didn't see that she was just being made fun of by the public at large.
Here it is in plain English:
Glasgow is full of ugly, dumb and inbred lunatics. 99% of their population can't even SPELL culture, let alone have any! If you want some of that, you have to go around 50 miles eastward. ;-)
Good day to you all and if you don't mind, after having mixed in your company, I am now going to scrub myself clean!!! |

Glasgow is the culture capital of Scotland, a fact that now means Glasgow is Scotland’s number one tourist destination, over taking that small east coast town, Edinburgh in 2005 and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is now the country’s number one attraction, overtaking that castle in Edinburgh this year and soon to over take the National Gallery and London.
I’m sure you will find a lot more information at www.seeglasgow.com rather than the bitter and jealous east coasters nonsense you will get here.
This fact is also baed up by the number of Edinburghs reading and posting on this thread, just shows there bitternes that they are even reading this.
Bugger off you Nedinburgers, you aint welcome in out great city, Scotland's shopping capital, Scotland's culture capital, Scotlands' Transport Capital, Scotland's Tourist capital.
Glasgow: Scotland's capital in everything but offical title.
Edinburgh: the capital of snobs and jelousy. |

Glasgow is a thriving city, and as such, has some social problems, just like any other large city. On the plus side, there are plenty of (free) art galleries and museums to visit, some beautiful architecture (check out Alexander "Greek" Thomson and Charles Rennie Mackintosh), lovely parks and lots and lots of shops!!!!!!! |

Hi jonboy, I wouldnt listen to anything you have heard from the people of Edinburgh. I never thought they were like that. Glasgow won UK City of Architecture and Design in 1999, prior to that the European City of Culture in 1990. There are lots of places to visit including the Burrell Collection, Huntarian Museum and Summerlee Heritage Trust is worth a look. I am sending you this link which I hope will be useful to you and good luck with your project.

I am English and live in London. I have just come back after spending 3 days in Glasgow. My first ever trip there. I was disappointed that there was nothing on at any of the theatres or at the concert hall. But I loved the art galleries and the museums. I thought they were fantastic. I was overawed by the amount of beautiful art nouveau and art deco stuff there is in the city and it did strike me that it does not seem to be appreciated by the city. I stumbled time and time again on the most wonderful stuff. I found an old savings bank in the china town part of the city which was in a state of decay and it was so sad because it is a beautiful building.
I found it amusing that it was once the city of culture in 1990, because it has faded somewhat, I assume, since then. Overall I was very impressed with Glasgow and would certainly return. So in a nutshell, I found the city, I am sorry to say, very grubby, but with the potential to be magnificent.
As for Oliver T, I have been to Edinburgh, and it is boring, it's pretentious and shallow, which is why I made no effort to go there again. Glasgow is populated by lovely people who were very friendly indeed towards me, even if they did take the mickey out of me for being English. |

I think Oliver T is Jelious of Glasgow!!!! Glasgow was once the the sencond city of the British Empire with the Clyde the warehouse of the world with 1 in 3 ships in the world built there. I don't think Edinburgh would have been second city or ever will be. |
