Getting in to Edinburgh Castle?

Hi there. I have an interview in the Castle in a couple of days and have been told to show the person at the desk a letter which will admit me to the military garrison for free.

What I'd like to know is, is the entrance desk easy to find? I don't want to be wandering around the castle for hours and miss the interview!

Thanks.

Yes, its really easy. You walk up the esplanade towards the castle entrance and the entrance desk is where people buy tickets and is just to the right of the main entrance. You may even just be able to show the letter to the guards on the entrance and they will let you in. Do oyu know where to go once you are in the castle? If not, Im sure one of the guards or staff members will be able to help you.

Get there early, go in teh main entrance & ask for directions to the main desk if you can't find it straight away.
It's not too confusing a layout so you shold be ok.

Actually, go there a day early & suss out where the main entrance desk is - you will be stressing out on the day as it is, without having the extra worry of not finding it ok!

Good luck with the interview. :)

Just walk up the Royal Mile to the castle. The ticket office is in front of the castle. Just walk up them and ask them.

It should be pretty easy to find, try near the main entrance.

It's on the Castle Esplanade at the main entrance, you can't miss it.

Its very easy! There are about 4 stalls at the front. Really cannot miss it.
Good luck with the interview.

Jim
There is a ticket office to the right of the main entrance. If you report there, I'm sure they will provide you with the necessary pass.

it is impossible to wanfer around for hours. it is not nig enough. Also, drive to the city centre. If you head for Princes St or the Caledonian Hotel you are on the right track. there is a car park at the bottom of the hill the castle stands on.

Alba the Scot
There is a kiost outside the main door, show them the letter and they will let you go through. Are you sure the intervbiew is in the castle, and not at Historic Scotland offices? Good luck.

there is only one way into the castle and no one can wander around anymore without being noticed and challenged
good luck on the interview

Ive been for an interview at the castle too, you go to the top of the royal mile enter at the draw bridge and guards in plain clothes with walky talkies guide you. for example: one will tell you to walk up the hill and take the next left, someone will approach you there and give you more directions and so on. they will get a description of you from the 1st guy. Nothing to worry about, the security is very tight.
