There is a restaurant by the castle called The Tower, there are really good views of the city at night.
Edit: Oh, and you should go to a show at the playhouse, Evita is on soon, dont know if thats your kind of thing though!

Depends on your budget, these are my favourites:
Expensive - The Witchery (just next to the Castle); Oloroso on George Street (rooftop with great views across the city); Restaurant Martin Wishart in Leith; (fitz)henry, 19 Shore Place, Leith;
Medium - Tigerlily on George Street, great food and bar with nightclub downstairs and hotel upstairs (fantastic rooms); The Waterfront, 1c Dock Place, Leith; The Living Room, Bruntsfield Place.
Reasonable - Cafe Royal (great food and drinks); Blue Bar (above Traverse Theatre just of Lothian Road; Bar Roma, 39a Queensferry Street; The Indian Cavalry Club, 3 Atholl Place.
Fair to say that there are a lot of really good restaurants in Edinburgh and some great nightlife. Generally, George Street and Rose Street are a good bet for nice places.
The link below will provide some fairly good info. |

Edinburgh is a beautiful city full of many places to eat,ask where you will be staying and they will advise you where to dine,also hop on the city bus tour by the railway station,it will take you all around the city,with your ticket you can get off the bus where you fancy as often as you like and just hop back onthe bus again.
A great way to see the sights.Have a great holiday in Edinburgh. |

Best chinese meal I have EVER had in my life (seriously, the sticky chilli beef is to die for)
The Golden Dragon, 21Castle Street
The place is very old fashioned and traditional but the food is....swoon...

A room in the town or a room in the west end are Scottish Bistros. I've been there a few times and the food is lovely.
You can take your own wine too, and they have a set menu eg. 3 courses for £18 or 2 courses for £15. |

I had dinner at a very nice place a few weeks ago. Don't remember the name, but it's right across the street from the Odeon Cinema at Tollcross. |
