The British Museum, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum all free to enter. Trafalgar Square borders the National Gallery which is also free to enter and just round the corner is the National Portrait Gallery. The Tate Art Galleries are also free to enter. What they will need to buy are bus and tube tickets - Use an Oyster Card, it's cheaper and there's a daily limit. |

Science Museum is fun.
We also enjoy going to Portobello Market on a Saturday morning. You don't have to buy but there are bargains to be had if you arrive early (7:00 - 8:00) |

How about a free walking tour?
http://www.newlondon-tours.com/
I have done this and it is a pretty good tour. You can tip the guide at the end if you liked the tour, but otherwise it is free. You want the Royal London Free Tour. It starts every day 11am at Hyde Park Corner (near the Wellington Arch). You can just show up, no need to register. |

Natural History Museum which is free!

A bus tour. Might not be really cheap but it will be a good way to see a few sights in one go.
Look out for magazine offers or 2 for 1 offers (on websites like moneysavingexpert.com) for places like London Dungeons and Madame Tussauds.
If it's a nice day make up a picnic and find a nice spot outside.
Walk round and see the sights/take lots of photos. See the changing of the guard, for example.

Loads of ideas here
http://www.yougodo.com/en/things-to-do-in-London/Search.aspx?l=2643743&d=25
From the free museums to the slightly more expensive tours like ripper tours and beatles tours, cycle hire and recumbenting, karaoke bars, cookery courses, ......
Have fun. |

Often, you can get some food 2 for 1 (and shopping stuff) vouchers from here:

Street markets are often a fun thing to do. Maybe Camden market?! But as its His birthday, a trip to the Science Museum would be my choice. Tons to see - and free! |

busk in the tube station.
solves two problems:
1. You'll get money
2. You'll have money to spend on decent things to do in London (if there are any)
