ghosthuntergirl
yeah but spelt Wales

Ali V
That would be Wales, a country in its own right! Check the map!! And yeah its a nice place!

Whiteout Alaskan Malamutes
Yes they seem to get stranded here a lot lately (sadly)

JT
Welsh people speak English, they have their own language but it is not widely spoken.
NEARLY every Welsh person speaks english as their first language

zerofool2005
Wales have their own language. That not a lot of people speak. And if theyre speaking it in front of you it means they are calling you names.

Also all their signs are in Englisha nd Welsh (God knows why)

clyde w
its called Wales

Ready Salted Cockerel
Yes, it's an area of bleak, baron, industrial wasteland to the west of the British isles, we use it mainly as storage for leeks and criminals.

al the above correct, almost, in particular JT seems have a problem!

Welsh is the oldest language in Europe. The country has coastline in three directions and a mountain range pretty much down the middle. The people are anti English but if you're not English then you should be ok. about 60% of the population speak Welsh as either a first or second language, everyone also speaks English, we take great delight in speaking in English apart from when an Englishman comes into hearing distance, we have a super sense that detects this and we automatically switch to speaking Welsh which annoys the English no end.

Whales are things that swim in the sea.

Wells is a small town in England.

Wales used to be a separate country from England but now it is only really separate in name and to a degree culturally. Wales is a part of the United Kingdom along with England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

It is not true that Welsh people can't speak English, they all do but there are a minority of them who speak Welsh as well which is indeed an ancient language, as is English.

Parts of Wales are truly beautiful but I would recommend my home City of Bristol as good base for a holiday. If you were to hire a car you can drive to Wales from Bristol in about three quarters of an hour, to the ancient city of Bath in half an hour and to London in two hours. Bristol has everything, it is steeped in history, it is compact and vibrant with every kind of restaurant, a good music scene, numerous pubs and bars, superb architecture, half an hour from the coast, minutes from quaint rural country areas, numerous social events such as the St Paul's carnival, the regatta and the balloon festival etc and close to several areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Best advise, come to Bristol and hire me as a guide for the first couple of days, because of my local knowledge you will have the cultural experience of a lifetime.

The place that your freind recommended is a place called Wales which is a place of natural beauty and lots of things to do.

People from Wales can and do speak English, there is another language called Welsh that some folk speak but should have no problems communicating as the main langage spoken is English.

wales is a country in the uk but definalty not part of england, nearly everyone speaks english as first language and fewer still currently speak the welsh language fluently, but they are trying to bring the language back. its a very scenic place and the capital has some good night life

The Welsh language and the English language both of history that spans roughly 1400 years. A modern day Welsh speaker would not understand Welsh from over 1000 year ago, just a modern English speaker does not understand English from over 1000 years ago.
- Click on the first entry in the source and you can see some writing in Old English, There is an audio reading as well. The passage is from the epic poem Beowulf which was written before (1100 to 1300 years ago). This represents the English language before it was influenced by "the languages of the romans" and its successors such as Norman French.
