Has anyone ever booked in to a Travel Lodge and then been told its over booked?

I have booked to stay in London n May but saw a programme which said they routinely over book. I really need that room but they won't let me pre pay. (I am running a marathon that weekend and have to have a bed for the night!) Any suggestions?

Why does it have to be Travelodge? Premier Travel Inn is the exact same thing! Check their website at:

If they are overbooked they will find you a room at another hotel, and they will pay for that night. Then generally they will offer you to come back to thier hotel the next night or you can stay at the new hotel. Usually a phone call is also paid for and if your orginal hotel offered breakfast for free that will be taken care of as well. Don't worry though most hotels routinely overbook becasue of a great number of cancellations and no shows and rarely have to "walk" someone to another hotel. It usually works out fine. Good luck in the mararthon

Try looking round B+B's, they aren't so cut-throat... and if you have until May, you will easily be able to find one.. alternatively, if you are desperate to stay at Travel Lodge for some reason, arrive there really early... I heard about the Travel Lodge policy, but it looked as if they would let people in as and when they came in order to meet their quota... get there in good time and you should get a room...

Alternatively, how about looking for accomodation in one of London's satellite towns? Places like Radlett are connected to London by the Thameslink railway service, so it shouldn't be too hard to get into the city, and prices there should be a little lower too.

get a different hotel, there's loads around, why stick to Travel lodge?

Have you tried some of the bed and breakfast places. Some of the hotels in Lo-don have cheap accommodation. You could try the youth hostels they are cheap and a nice place to stay.

Sofitel
Premier Travel Inn
Novotel
Ibis
Mercue
But if i was you i will choose Sofitel.

Yes, I have but your best bet is to try the marble arch hotel.

Unfortunately, hotels will knowingly over-book themselves all the time. I work at a hotel myself and I can't tell you how frustrating it is, but I honestly don't have any good answer's except book into another hotel that isn't booked.

aria
you've got loads of time so write to them and ask them then you'll have the reply in writing guaranteeing you the room x

best of luck with the training and the big day

It can also work to your advantage; I booked a standard room at a Holiday Inn in London, but on arrival, they told me all the standard rooms were occupied. They upgraded me to a suite - no extra charge. Sweet.

The travel lodge near me has a representation of men always being found dead in their beds.

well i am not exactly sure what you should do. you could keep that room but also just look around a little more and see if you can find a room somewhere else that is cheaper and they can garantee you a room. if you do not want to do this well, all i can say is that if you decide to run another marathon, see if you can get hooked up with a running team. My family lives in Minnesota and my mom (i'm only 12 years old) runs with a team called team in training and it is for the leukemia and loufoma society. well, when she trains for a marathon with the team they book and pay for all of the runner's rooms. when she ran her last marathon we got our flight and room paid for. This might be something to think about. just remember, most running teams have you raise money (my mom had to raise 3500 for her team)
good luck and i hope you find a room
