Have you been mistreated by Airport Security Personnel?

I was travelling with my toddler son on Thursday and have no problem with the tight security at the airport. What drives me crazy is that these security personnel are rude and obnoxious. They think the can do anything they wish in the name of national security. They threw away my son's drink (the only thing that he drinks) without first asking me to try it. The leaflet that they gave out all over the terminal state that juice/milk anything related to babies and toddlers are OK. Anyone else have a complaint?

I fly in US & Latin America on average of 2 times a month. While I have never been "mistreated" I have observed sloppy actions by some of these "professionals"
Don't forget that many of these people did not hold a job with much authority or responsibility before being hires by airports so now that they have a badge some are taking advantage of the opportunity by trying to proove just how much authority they have.
The best thing to do would have been ask to speak to supervisor and get the name of offending person. Report the FACTS to the airport and your government agency i.e. TSA in the US.
You can also print off the latest rules from TSA web site and take with you so when confronted with abuse you can POLITELY ask why they are not following the rules.
Yes they might try and intimidate you so you need to be prepared.

Yea, I got felt up in the Phoenix Airport because my underwire bra "beeped".

I mentioned that I usually get dinner before being felt up... no sense of humor ya know.

I refuse to fly anymore. I'm not paying money to get a service where I am treated like a criminal. I'm tired of American's throwing away civil liberties in the name of "safety".

The terrorists have won. We have 90 year old alzheimer patients with arthritis being forced to take off their shoes when they can't even work a microwave; and, toddlers who have to give up those sippy cups because they might be bombs AND because they MIGHT be a member of a sleeper cell. Ok... Sure... Right.

Sorry to hear of yr experience. No excuse for that sort of behaviour towards u and yr son, even with all the heightened security etc, there r ways to talk to ppl. I have a bad experience at Heathrow about 15 years ago. My daughter had a small toy dog that she loved, and they ripped it apart in front of her eyes. I dont think we looked like drug dealers and i do appreciate that they have a job to do, but it would have been better if they had not done it in front of her, she was totally devistated. I'd like to think that the airport security have improved since then!

Not exactly mistreated but i feel i should use this opportunity to tell the world of the time that i was denied my family holiday to tenerife. Apparantly not haing a passport is a big deal when it comes to international travel and being on the passport of a parent doesn't count if your 16. I was told i could not fly and guess what..... my parents went anyway and left me to get a lift home back to sunny Bish off my geriatric next door neighbour. Remember this people cos apparently it happens a lot! lol.

A really minor but stupid incident.
I went to the airport to purchase some foreign currency for an upcoming holiday.
The Travelex kiosk was located in the departures lounge.
I had to go through security to just change some money.
They confiscated a nail file from my handbag.
How silly, I wasn't even boarding a flight and the kiosk was about three steps inside the gate.
Lots of people in a uniform get very officious and let the power go to their head.

Have never been mistreated malicously. I have been mistreated by boneheadedly stupid security personnel thinking they know it all and not listening. Unfortunately, you can complain but realistically, if you feel you were mistreated because the bonehead was being stupid, nothing is going to happen.

Prince_Of_Narnia
YES

I was touched inappropriately by a security guard; although I didn't complain he was kinda cute lol!

They just want any excuse to flaunt their power; the ability to run thir hands all over you; to dominate and control you and dictate what you can ... and ... can't do . . eh hmm

LOOK WHAT YOU STARTED NOW!

Veston Pants
Think of it this way. they are on VERY low wages. When they upset you just think "No matter how 5hit my life gets it will be ten times better than yours" That usually cheers me up.

no, I work at the Airport!! I know its very difficult, but this ppl have there orders! very sad..but you have to thank...the Terrorist that we are in that dilemma....

I have never been mistreated by airport security. What airports are you flying through?

J. Charles
Admittedly Security can sometimes be fraught with tension!(What with all the Pushing and Shoving in queues, and having Kids as well!).

The only way to survive increased levels of Airport Security is to Plan ahead!
Only take with you what You Know will cause the 'least' amount of inconvenience to the Security Staff as well as Your Fellow Passengers!
i.e. Shoes that are easy on & Off, Remove Jewllery and adhere to current restrictions(Check with Your Airline).

And be as Polite and as Understanding as Possible to All Airline Security and Police Security!
If you have a serious Complaint you can Normally ready information on the walls of the Airport on where to direct such issues!

Security is there so You can have a Trouble Free flight and to protect you From Those that would Limit Our Freedom!(Enjoy it while Freedom Lasts)

Get over yourself.....I bet you are the same person that says 9/11 could of been provented. They have to do there job rather or not you like it so that people don't get on the plane and blow it up. You should thank them not talk bad about them.
