Lee Carter

Have you been to England? Where are some places I should absolutely go to?

I was born there, and now that I've found my biological father who lives out there, I'm going to visit the rest of the family as well as him this summer. He requested I make a list of places to go.
So far I have:
1. Jane Austen's grave

2. Shakespeare's grave

3. Sherwood Forest

4. Oxford University

5. Buckingham Palace

6. Jane Austen's house

That's it. I love historical sites, scary places, anything cryptic, really. Inspiration things.

Help me out, I love all of your opinions.

~Lee

You'll like the Tower of London as it has been there for over half a millennium and when we still executed people, many were held and executed there.

Stonehenge is a bit over hyped TBH

Bath has lots of lovely buildings and a Jane Austen centre - she lived there for a long time. It also has the well-preserved Roman Baths which attract large numbers of tourists each year, and a large abbey.

Plenty of castles all over the country, and remains of Roman forts (boring if you ask me but you might like it).

As for Oxford University, it's not a tourist attraction and they won't just let anyone walk around. TBH I think you'd be wasting your time going to see it, unless you are planning on studying there.

In London, go to the Tower of London. Ride the London Eye.

Outside of London, go to York, Dover, Canterbury, and to Stonehenge.

If you would like to venture little further north, the lake district is one of the most beautiful places to visit.

I've been there a couple of times. As you I was born there but have grown up here. Anyway, it depends on how long you have. England is the old world and there's lots to see. There are castle ruins all over. There are lots of museums especially in London. Then there's the pomp and pageantry the royals enjoy. Personally I enjoyed the west country near Exeter. It close to the Moors and the coast. I hope you have loads of time and get to see lots. Enjoy

I haven't been there, but I just saw on tv today about about St. Michael's Mount, in Cornwall. It's definitely a place I want to visit. Read about it here: http://www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk/about.htm

I went to London...there is so much to do. I enjoyed Tower of London and the London Eye. Windsor Castle was amazing..def worth the train ride.

Have a wonderful time :)

If you like austere, historically rich places I'd suggest Hampton Court, Tower of London and Jesus college in Oxford.

Windsor castle might also be of interest to you.

Have fun.

try to get to scotland or wales if you can. also go to stone henge, the town of glastonbury has loads of new age stuff, look up other stone circles on the internet, skip all the touristy stuff if you want inspiration, go to the ancient pagan sites.
