You could always go on to a route finder site, you would get more sense doing that than put up with the horrible person that told you to go back to your own country!! good luck and enjoy the UK, not every one thinks like that person does!! |

It will depend on the actual place you want to go to in Scotland or Ireland. |

London to Ireland by Plane - 1hr. 25mins

You can't get a train from London to Ireland. The Irish Sea seperates Britain from Ireland. A plane would be about 1hr 20 mins. Same travel time on a plane from Londont o Scotland. |

It depends, Scotland is a big country. About 4-5 hours to Edinburgh, or about 9-10 hours to Inverness.

To get to Ireland you could try

Plane is quickest but most expensive!
You can get a National Express, Bus Eireann coach from whatever Irish city/Town you are in to any English City from £50 return! (Less if only oneway!)
Coach uses the ferry, so you just get off when at the port & bus gets on board, then whilst sailing you can explore the ferry-book a cabin if its a night crossing!!) then get back on again when docked, & be driven to your chosen destination!
I used to go from Tipperary in Eire to Bristol, in the UK & it would take about 12hrs each way!!!!! (But worth it for the savings made, + you get to see a changing picture out the windows!!)
Goodluck! |

London Kings Cross to Edinburgh Scotland is just over 4 hours on the fastest trains. www.nationalexpresseastcoast.co.uk
London Euston to Glasgow is around 5 hours on the fastest trains.www.virgintrains.co.uk
Booking in advance gets you the cheapest tickets. Train travel within Scotland is provided by Scotrail
www.firstgroup.com/scotrail. There are several scenic lines in Scotland such as those to Fort William/Mallaig and Kyle of Lockalsh and Scotrail offer a variety of rover (freedom of their network) tickets.
Its a good idea to take the train to Scotland rather than flying as it will give you the opportunity to see a lot of England on the way particularly if you use the Euston route in one direction and the Kings Cross route in the other.
You can fly to Ireland - Air Lingus and Ryan Air and others fly from various London airports or go by train and ferry. One ferry crossing for example is from Fishguard in west Wales to Rosslare in Ireland. |
