You could try for accommodation in university halls of residence. they are usually fairly basic but economical. London uni has some quite central and have a web site. Also you could try the YHA youth hostel associaton about £25 per day
lukee
University halls of residence are a really good option - they are central and provide basic accommodation, best of all they are cheap!
Try http://www.kcl.ac.uk/about/structure/admin/facser/conbro/accom/ for Kings College (lots of rooms across London)
http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/vacations/ for London School of Economics
http://www.wmin.ac.uk/page-5198 for Westminster university

Well you don't want to go in a hotel because that would be very expensive. I would say you want somewhere central but cheap:
You can also do the search yourself on here and how much you want to spend.
http://www.rightmove.co.uk
If you don't like the idea try this hotel:
It isn't to expensive and is affordable. It is your room and don't have to shard it with anyone. Also they have an internet wireless connection and some hotels in the summer do discounts of the rooms since it is the summer and most people are abroad and they want as many bookings as they can. For example I looked on there the other day a room was around £80 now £29.99.
Here is the hotel's website:
https://www.travelodge.co.uk/index.php
here is the search for you:
http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hotel/results.php?search_type=4&search=City%20of%20London%2C%20Gtr%20London&id=5449
Don't be shocked when you see a hotel with £110 per night it is only on some hotels.

Look on the Ryan Air site, they advertise cheap hostels and hotels.
Good luck
