Which Glaswegian are we talking about the stylish, the designer the trendy, the artist, the Govanites, the westenders, the southsiders, the yuppies, the neds, the eastenders, the musicians, the actors, the educated, the non-eduacated, middle, working upper class? The Indian, Chinese, Polish, African, German. the glaswegian does not conform to the stereotype once applied.
Glasgow is an amazing city to live in and visit, yes there are problems but show me a city where there isn't. Over the years Glasgow has re-moulded itself in to a stylish, european city, It has regenerated it's passed and is concentrating on moving the city forwards. It's a great city and one worth a visit.

kilts
glasgow tends to be portrayed as really rough - drunks, drugs, violence, kids running wild on council estates.

I dont know if its like that, have never been further north than Alton Towers!!!

bazza1873
im fae glasgow ya dafties and were no soap dodgers, im no a ned and i dont drink buckfast wine! us glasweigians are legends in our own right just one wee bit of advice keep away from parkhead and that manky mob over the east end of the city! Mon the GERS!!!!!!

My mom is Glaswegian and my whole fam is from Scotland. I love the Scots!!!!!! I love how friendly they always have been. The English have always come across a little snooty every time I have been there. I can't ever wait for the train ride up north to get to Scotland.

Tink
hiya, i`m from Cambridge and my nan was Glaswegian, also some friends so I love Scotland and the people : )

Giselle M
I originally come from the north of Scotland and absolutely love Glasgow. The people are friendly - bit noisy sometimes. Not all of them are drink swilling neds (although there are a few). Easy seen most of the answers come from the English who seem to think they are the greatest things since slices bread and cant seem to get over the fact the won the World Cup once.

I know it's not true, but I picture everyone from Scotland looking like Groundskeeper Willie, wearing kilts and eating haggis!

That's okay I'm Canadian and I'm freezing in my igloo, and I'm gonna go play hockey later, eh?

Ive been to Edinburg scottland is beautiful

wild_eep
i'm from nearby, but I moved across to Edinburgh, and love it here. Shriek! Kill me now! So anyway...

I think Glasgow sees the world as divided into Glasgow, and everywhere else. I think the football/religion stuff is a scourge. But those are the only bad bits I'd care to mention. The rest is good. Taken right, it can be an energetic and inspiring place. For example, when was the last time you heard of a home-grown Edinburgh band being a huge success? Me neither.

monkeyface
I'm a scot & I find that most Glaswegians are happy, funloving people who tend to get a bit overexcited at times.
When that happens their speech speeds up to 900 words a minute & they never stop for a breath.
Apart from that they are fine (obviously not as fine as Aberdonians though).

I'm English and I haven't got anything against you guys at all. Never been but I've heard that Edingburgh's beautiful, as is the rest of the country for that matter, and I'd love to go. You've also got a tremendous cultural, scientific and intellectual history to be proud of. Glasgow's got a bad rep but I've never been there so what would I know?

paradox69
I think you're accents are charming. My Grandmother's Scottish, I love her. Not too fond of the food. (Haggis?) But oatcakes are great. And men in kilts are pretty dashing. Highland dancing is cool, and so are the cattle. Music isn't bad either! Pretty good flicks as well. "ratcatcher" and others....

Love Scotland, love the Scots...Stayed in Glasgow for some hours only, and I thought it was great. The Scots are so friendly and warm, unlike their alcoholic and pretentious neighbours.
GO SCOTLAND!!!
