You can't drive England, silly - it's an island - what you need is a car! |

To give you an idea, I recently did Einburgh to Kent down the A1 in about 8 hours as a solo driver. It took just under two hours to get to Berwick upon Tweed, so the rest took about 6 hours, which is pretty much all of England. Left at 4.30pm on a Sunday, and arrived about half past midnight. Sharing driving it could probably be done quicker. |

The record is 46 minutes 44 seconds by a Phantom Jet Fighter.
Cyclists have taken around 3 days, walkers in 10 days and a man of 78 walked it in 40 days.
Driving in a car - well, that all depends on the car. |

Colin-why?

One driver or two?
Start on a Sunday morning in say, January, and finish on a Monday night.
Which Monday night, depends on the car, and you, and the continental drivers in their left hand drive trucks. |

You probably mean Britain ?
You can do it in 4 days if you stop to sleep
If you rush it you won't enjoy it. |

If you mean you want to drive the whole length of the main island of the UK (the one that includes England, Wales and Scotland), then the accepted route is from Land's End in England (the southern-most point of the island), to a place called John O'Groats in Scotland (the northern-most tip of the island). The best route is 836.8 miles (1346.7 km) miles and would take you 17 hours 44 minutes (assuming no stops and medium traffic). Check out the route information here:
http://routeplanner.rac.co.uk//showrouting.php?map24_sid=3xdPv7ZjYoqtL19UoY7nqa9ccvjK6GqXux.L0hzjYDG.LRmfDWh04SL0124KHUAIM77t15Y5ujSE5lrAY3pKAg&t=256b500cc153afa405420d1a04bcd389
If, however, you mean ONLY England, you'd probably want to drive from Land's End to Berwick-on-Tweed, the northern-most town in England before the Scottish border. This is 552.1 miles (888.5km) and would take you around 11 hours 20 minutes (again assuming no stops and medium traffic). Check out the route information for that here:
http://routeplanner.rac.co.uk//showrouting.php?map24_sid=3xdPv7ZjYoqtL19UoY7nqa9ccvjK6GqXux.L0hzjYDG.LRmfDWh04SL0124KHUAIM77t15Y5ujSE5lrAY3pKAg&t=20f92e536f32d2667ea1ee879e820f16
Of course, the longest official route for the island is to drive all around the edge, along the coasts! |

Do you want to just drive England or do you want to include Scotland and go to the furthest point north in the British Isles?
Lands end to John O Groats is probably about 18 hours in a car. |
