I like you

How bored will I be on 12-15 pounds spending money per day in Scotland??

that is all I will have after paying rent.

I dont think that will buy much other than food for the day and a 5 pound bus ticket will it?

No drinking , no cigarettes???

no pubs??

what will it be like??

But I am thinking of buying a mountain bike while there and just bicycling (winter time, i know) to everywhere and saving the bus fares.

What do you think?

btw, will be staying there for 3 months.
Additional Details
Also , will be staying at a town outside of Irvine.

Would like to travel to and from Ayr and Glasgow frequently either by bicycle or bus.

This is better than some people are doing on a full time job, this is why most people get a 2nd job.

You could save up on some days and have say £30 on the second day and go to the pub. Cigarettes are expensive here. £5 per pack of 20. Drinks are quite expensive depending on where you go. Travel is another thing too. There are lots to do in Glasgow on a low budget. But depends really what you like to do.

Captain America
So that's $18 - $23 per day?? approximately??? That would suck for me big time...I'd wait til I have more money to go...my 2 cents

Tom
Maybe try eBaying or something whilst you are there to earn a little more money... Mountain biking is a good idea - I cycle everywhere (In Exeter), but a word of warning, Scotland is quite hilly!

You'll survive! Save up for the weekends...

Forget Edinburgh or Glasgow. Way too exp. for your budget. UNLESS

Why not take out a loan or borrow money somehow to raise your budget to 30-50 pounds a day.

3 months in Scotland - you lucky dog!

quit smoking
get drink from bargain booze
shop at morrisons or asda
get a cheaper place to rent
buy a bus travel pass thingy
hire a mountain bike?
sell stuff on ebay
get another job / higher paying job
get a loan

and think of the poor people in the world!
think of something to do that doesn't cost anything and save up your money

good luck :)

Just think how lucky you are to be in that beautiful country Scotland, how on earth can you be bored living there? I think you will stay longer than 3months chum, when you meet the hospitality of the Scottish citizens second, to none.

i would encourage you to get some more money, scotland is orite, but what with the weather and all most fun things have to be inside, depends also where scotland, if you dig deep enough we have some excelent reef if you are into that, but somtimes takes a while to get to, theres a few good biking places that i went to a couple of times, they got some good jumps n stuff, but will be tres cold, try to go to either edinburgh - yaayyy, or glasgow, mmyeah, as they are probably the easiest places to get cheap beer,

and steel head, its more like $22 - $29 we do a lot better with inflation than u. no off.
