How can I get from Central London to Camden Market?

I've never been there and I'd like to visit the markets.
How would I get there from Central London?
(preferably bus as I'm getting a day pass)

ALSO: Would I be able to use my day pass to get there?
And is there any good stuff there?!

Several bus routes go there - the 88 is just one - and the Northern Line station "Camden Town" is just along the street.

northern line to camden or mornington cresscent then walk up the high street.you can use a travel card but the best time to go would be the weekend when all the stalls are out.

Camden is central London. You could walk through the park, depending where you are staying. Your day pass can certainly get you to Camden. Bus passes are great - I'd advise them to all visitors.

very easy to get to, it starts right outside Camden Town underground station ... make sure you walk all the way up to Camden Lock where there's loads of stalls ... yes you can get some good stuff there and it's good fun browsing around

have a look at the tube map
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf
and here's the local buses

you can use your bus pass on any bus in London within the zones you have purchased it for. Camden is in Zone 2. You would be quicker on the tube if you got a one day travelcard and you could just take the northern line up to Camden town and walk from there.

for bus routes go to the journey planner at tfl.gov.uk

Take the Northern Line tube from Leicester Square or Tottenham Court Road and get off at Camden Town.

Camden Tube station - turn right and walk up Kentish Town Road - you'll see loads of markets stalls right and left. Eventually you'll come to Camden Lock (canal).

HAVE A GREAT DAY OUT IN CAMDEN

The Elegant Epicure
It depends on where you're coming from in Central London - it's a big place. Camden Town is served by the following buses: 24, 27, 29, 31, 46, 88, 134, 168, 214, 253, 274, C2, and night buses N5, N20, N29, N31, N134, N253, N279.

A valid travelcard can be used on any bus or tube journey you make that day.

You can use the TFL (Transport for London) website to plan your route:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

I would definitely recommend you visit at the weekend as this is when most of the stalls are there.

The shops and markets stock mostly alternative, hippy, ethnic and unusual clothing, shoes and gifts. There are also some specialist rock and goth stores - though less than there used to be. It's good for jewellery, vintage clothing and quirky presents. The Stables Market is my personal favourite as it has a good range of stalls, some decent street food and a good atmosphere.

For full descriptions of each of the markets, check out this site:
http://www.camdenlock.net/camden.html

There are some great restaurants and bars around there too. Check out FiftyFive on Jamestown Road for excellent cocktails, or the Worlds End for a classic grimy Camden pub experience. Avoid Gilgamesh - the food is overpriced and overrated.

Enjoy your trip!

Take the Northern Line from Charing Cross to Camden Town. Or plenty of buses eg No 88. A one day Travelcard is valid for this journey. You can use it on buses, underground and trains.

I'm taking Central London as being around Tottenham Court Road, you can take the Northern Line on the Underground to Camden Station. For buses, on the Charing Cross Road or Tottenham Court Road take the 24 (heading to Hampstead Heath) or 29 (heading to Wood Green), ask the driver to let you know what stop you need to get off at then just follow the crowds.
