Stonehenge is about 9 miles from Salisbury in Wiltshire, about 85 miles from London. Trains run every 30 minutes from Waterloo Station in London and the journey takes about 85 minutes. A cheap day return ticket to Salisbury is £26.70,
one third less if you have a railcard such as the Network Card,
Young Persons,Senior Citizens etc., and obviously if you are going on quite a few journeys a rail card priced at £20-24 per year is worth having. A connecting bus to Stonehenge meets many trains at Salisbury Station from spring to Autumn and the train operator South West Trains www.southwesttrains.co.uk does issue an inclusive ticket for the whole journey. You should make time to look at the city of Salisbury too which has a particularly fine cathedral.

Easiest is train London Waterloo to Salisbury (around 90 minutes) then bus number 3 form the station - see http://www.wdbus.co.uk/htm/ttNorthern/N_3.pdf for timetable alternatively get a taxi at the station.

Salisbury is well worth a visit too - beautiful cathedral, interesting city

There is a tourist bus from Salisbury that can take you to Stonehenge.
See link for more details

Train to Salisbury then a taxi (about 10 miles).

Cost £ 50 I guess.

Or a bus is cheaper
The buses depart from Heathrow Airport and from Victoria Coach Station in the centre of London. The journey takes about 2 hours.
Get off at Amesbury.
From there you can either walk (about 2 miles), catch a local bus, or get a taxi.

You can buy tickets on the coach, at the coach station, or from ticket agents for National Express. It is the cheapest way to travel to Stonehenge.

There are several companies that offer tours from different places in London, it will cost you around £50 or $100USD. My advice to you is just rent a car with GPS and drive there, the reason is the tours take all day to get there and you can walk around the rocks in about 10 minutes if that long. It is in the middle of nowhere but there are several other places worth visiting there such as the city of Bath, the cathedral of Salisbury or the less known othere set of standing rocks called avebury henge. Also there are several small villages around there where you can stop and enjoy the country scenary, a bed and breakfast, a hearty meal or just enjoy a pint of beer from the local brewery.

Follow these links and you can get lots of information:

It's just off the A303. You could hire a car and drive there in a couple of hours. Get onto the M25 and leave at J12, M3 then pick up the A303.

there are tourist trips from London.
try www.swtrains.co.uk for trains from London (Waterloo) to Salisbury, they advertise links to it on their website. you can buy tickets on line or at stations. Cost depends when you go and what sort of travel.
Or drive down the M3 to the A303 and then head west till you get there.
Check out the English Heritage website too. www.english-heritage.org.uk/stonehenge.

Calculus
Only if you could hire a car. It is only 2 hours from London (about 100 miles, depending on where you start) and you could also visit nearby Salisbury.

Trixarella
I think your best bet would be to look for a coach firm that organises days out.

Stonehenge is on the A303 but in the middle of nowhere so you would not be able to get a train there.
