How can i overcome the feeling that some countries are better than the UK?

Every country has its good side and its bad. If you came to the US you would find many things that you don't like. Same if you went to Sweden or Germany, etc. Don't look at the dirt on the ground and the gum on the bus. Look at the people and the good that is in them..

Many countries have their good and bad points, including the UK. The streets in the UK are filthy, I admit that, thanks to useless councils and lazy idiots who can't be bothered putting their rubbish in a bin but the country is also very multi-cultural with a press that isn't bullied by the government.

Also, arrogance by some answering this question does not help the case that the US is the best country in the world unless you wish it to be known for egocentrism.

False and true. Scotland, wales, ireland, and england rules. Although the states are more powerful than the UK. I was born there. I went over there a couple of summers ago, its true what you said, but, what do expect from a country that has been around longer than the states? I mean, england has been a world power long before the colonists arrived in the us. If it wasn't for the us brits, there would be no US. It would all be french-mexicans and spanish-russians. That would suck looking like you have diarria on your face. And if it wasn't for the brits, the states would have lost a lot of battles and wars. There would also be no good rock music. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and all the other influences. Plus, no steam engine, telephone, bicycle, pennecilin, and a lot other stuff wouldn't be invented if it wasn't for UK.So what if the UK isn't what it used to be. It's still a great country. So, think about that.

The states on the other hand, is filthy. There are murders, child pornographers, rapes, wildfires, tornadoes, terrorists every day. The amount of obesity in this country is like how much fish there are in the ocean. There is a lot. Probably of 60% of the U.S. population is with health problems and obesity. And terrorists. Bush has his head so far up his *** (know offense, please). i don't know. There is only a handful of things that is good about this country. I can't think anymore. Think about this.

have you been around the whole UK ? are you saying you don't like the whole country or just certain parts...? for example have you been to Cornwall, parts of Scotland and wales..?? all countries have their good sides and bad sides.
Yes the streets can be dirty and public transport can be dirty...but have you had any fish and chips?? that will make you feel betteror failing that have a nice cup of tea dear. . I love the UK- but I am English so I am biased...AND THE UK IS WAY BETTER THAN THE U.S -I just say that on principal I have not actually been there so I have no clue really! :-)

I am presuming that you arrived from Africa or some other 3rd world environment. I am sure it looked quite clean because it takes a while to see the dirt or the bad side of countries. I am from the US and I was willing to tolerate the street messes in Portugal but not the total filth I saw in Southern Spain. if you are looking for a really clean environment try Germany or Scandenavia. A lot of areas in the US are hyperclean and tidy but remember that big cities have millions of people walking on streets. Even one tiny piece of trash or dirt from each person each day adds up to a real mess. the countries that promote a sense of citizenship are the cleanest. Latin countries typically have less sense of citizenship than Germanic or Northern countries. What I mean is that some people know they have a responsibility to their fellow citizens and neighbors to keep things in working order. Other people allow their children to throw trash on the streets and turn to the government and expect the mayor to pick up their candy wrappers.

By avoiding the cities, and spending time in some of the more natual parts, such as the North Yorkshire Moors....... the English Lake District + the Norfolk Broads, and the Scottish Countryside

I live in the UK and am keen to move abroad at some point as I really don't feel the quality of life here is very good, even if it is my home.

So I definitely think there are better countries that the UK, not necessarily the US though ;o)

Every country I have been in has had good bits and bad bits (including UK, USA, Canada, France, Israel, Spain, Greece ....). But the cleanest I have been in is Germany.
