How can we stop gangs destroying London communities?

What do you mean by them destroying London communities? What sort of things are they doing?

Anyhow... I'd say it'd be cool if 'we' don't have to stop the gangs... but that the gangsters themselves feel the urge to not do those things that 'destroy communities'. And for them to feel that urge, they have to have a stake in the communities... so that they'd feel a sense of loss when the communities are damaged.

Only people who has 'nothing to lose' feels free to do damage. If you can give the gangsters something to lose, they'll most likely modify their behavior. I think.

The London crime rate is not seven times higher than New York!
"428 murders recorded so far this year"
"While London still has a much lower murder rate - 168"
It then goes on to say that 35 out of 212 of the ones in New York, have been analyzed , and judged by these 35 , compared to London's 168 ,
that more had been committed by strangers. Where is the Validity in that statistic?

Anyway, how to stop gang violence?
Mhmm, we need to stop this idea that violence can bring respect and social status in these subcultures.
People carry knifes incase other people are carrying knifes, so that they can defend themselves, if attacked.
They want to be intimidating instead of intimidated.
So carrying weapons needs to be punished more,
more education, people should know that this isn't the only way to go in life.
There is no excuse as to not do something better with your life. No excuses.
And all these council estates, yes they may be vital ,
but poor housing, cramped conditions, etc will cause violence,if you put a large community of these more susceptible to violence together, surely it just encourages it.
But then inequality is also said to increase aggression.

So i dunno, more proper punishment, anyone casing trouble in any sort of gang should be dealt with no matter how young, and then put on as scheme that can help them make better of themselves.

And people should try not to be intimidated by such things.
(which is hard ,admittedly, when fearing for your life)
If you get scared of gangs that might hurt you, the only way to beat them, is to be more scary than them.
But if you think, nah you're silly that's no way to live your life, then you are encouraging it less, does that make any sense?

You could set an example and start being nice to people. How difficult is that? For you very. No wonder people gang up on you. Trt to be nice and decent please. Sending nasty private emails never works.

When dogs are alone they join with other dogs, pick a leader and get a territory and then fight weaker dogs.
Thats the same with people.
BUT if your innocent member of the community why are you afraid of them?
I think that if you wont mess with them and if your not a criminal you have nothing to fear.

I feel bad for you. I remember going to London 32 years ago when New York city was near bankruptcy and tens of thousands of people lived on the streets. People would shout racial slurs in bullhorns and garbage would pile up on the streets. London seemed so sophisticated and calm.

I'm shocked now when I read that the crime rate in London is now up to seven times that of New York City.

No matter how far you reduce the muggings and burglaries and street crimes, the pile of guns will always allow a certain number of people the capacity to shoot their husbands, girlfriends or spouses.

It's endemic.
White, middle class people need to realise that every time they go buy a bag of drugs (and that happens hundreds of thousands of times over every day in London) they are fuelling the criminal INDUSTRY that they so fear and despise. teenagers are being turned into drug-mules, runners, gun carriers and dealers, making more money than any minimum wage job will ever offer them and probably gettting hooked on substances as a result. some are as young as twelve.

the problems of society are to be shared by us all- not blamed on the oppressed few already born into inescapable poverty and failed by an education system stifled by beurocracy.

but, yeah, it's the drugs that keep the gangs spawning. If people would stop buying drugs then the gangs would not proliferate the way that they do following the free market model.

Send them to LA or Chicago, New York where the real hardcore gangs are. They will never make it there. They will beg to go home and be good kids then. Gang age in these cities starts around 8/9 yrs.old, it's the only life they think they have. The system doesn't work for most and they just get worse as they get older. Keeping the youth active in after school activities like sports and household that stick together usually keep their kids in line.

Seems to me like every point in history people have been trying to destroy London, but London seems to survive.

This particular plague is brought about by hip hop. in the seventies and eighties, when there wasn't any hip hop, it was simple thievery, now it has become something much more sinister because the blacks and the wiggas feel they have to act like the American gangs.

I say ride it out.
