 EARTHQUAKE!!! in the UK?
Did anyone feel the earthquake in the uk last night.????...

How do I get a temporary passport because I lost mine and I am stuck in England?

I lost it on the train on the way to my final destination, and I am only going to be here for the next week. I cannot wait 15 days for a new passport, so is there anyway that I can get a temporary passport? If so, how do I go about getting that passport. Do I need to go to the Embassy?

I will also assume you are an American - so the link below will give you the information. It is correct that you need to get to your Embassy or Consulate.

If you are not American, then the same rules appy - off the the Embassy or Consulate and bring ID to prove who you are:

"The consular officer taking an application for replacement of a lost, stolen, or misplaced passport must be reasonably satisfied as to your identity and citizenship before issuing the replacement. In virtually all cases this can be done through examination of whatever citizenship and identity documents are available, conversations with the applicant, close observation of demeanor and replies to questions asked, and discussions with the applicant’s travelling companions or contacts in the United States.

Good luck!! and read the link below, it has great information and answers the questions and more that you ask here. Also a temporary passport is about 3 months in length - to replace is the same 10 years - the officials in the Embassy and Consulates have the same authority as any official in your home country.

How do I know? I made my son's Italian passport in Toronto (he has dual citizenship), at the Italian Consulate and it took no more than 2 hours. I also made my passport (official) in the Consulate in Milan, Italy and it was done right there in the office - no more than 2 hours also - difference might be that it was not high season for travellers, for I was a resident in Italy at the time.

Go to you're embassy in London.
They will be able to assist you from there.
Go asap, dont wait untill the last day, and also report the lost passport as stolen.
Which nationality are you?
EU members and citizens of the US dont ussually have a problem.

You go to the Embassy and plead your case. You will have to buy a new passport, but it is of a limited time frame (about a year).

When you get back home (I am assuming you are American), you will have the opportunity to submit additional paperwork to get all the time on it for free, but do not delay on that part.

After a certain period of time, it will cost again to get the new passport.

Yes, you should go to the embassy straight away. Take as much identification along as possible to help things along - if you have a photocopy of your passport take that along. You should be issued a temporary passport to get you home where you will have to do the rest to get a new passport.

Additional care should be taken in future in terms of identity theft.

Follow the advice of the people above, but also be sure to report the loss immediately so no dishonest person who finds it can try to use it. I lost my Canadian passport in Brussels and was given a new six-month passport in a few hours. They did make me pay extra for losing the last one.

Yes, embassy or consulate. they will help you get home... Expect to lose at least a day of your trip dealing with paperwork, so do it as soon as possible.

I would go to the embassy for whatever country you're from. Good luck!

I've got a feeling its going to take you a long time, especially since they uncovered that planned terrorist attack. Good luck though.
