How do I go from Paris to London?

I have already written this question but for some strange reason it never appeared online ...here's the thing: I'm going to Europe for the first time in my life.. when I get there, I'll stay in Paris because I have a friend there... the thing is that I don't speak a word of French. How can I go from Paris to London? Would it be possible for a 17-year-old girl to find a job in London? I'd really like to visit England and stay there for more than just a few days. Thanks!! If there's anything else you'd like to tell me, here's my msn: yellow.rose90@hotmail.com xx

The cheapest and most efficiant way to fly would be EasyJet. They have extremely reasonable prices. I like Ryanair as well but they don't have any direct flights from Paris to London. The prices here start at about 18 Euros.

Since you don't speak any French, I suggest at least getting a phrasebook and memorizing simple things. The French appreciate it when you communicate with them in their native language and will be very polite and helpful.

If you want to find a job in London, look at hostels. Sure, they don't have the most desirable of living conditions, but there are decent ones, try http://www.hostelworld.com . However, it's very hard to find a job at a hostel online, so I suggest asking about it when you get there. If you're staying in a hostel, ask if they have any job openings. If you're staying for less than 90 days, you don't need a visa so it should be relatively easy to do the paperwork and such.

I hope you`ll accept my advice in the genuine sense it is given. Dont travel alone at 17. London can be a very dodgy place especially if you have no local knowledge or friends. Getting a job is not a problem if you are an EU resident but again if you must - choose wisely - some of the pay is very poor.

There are many good things in London - gigs - restaurants - museums - parks - history etc but please do it safely.

There are many ways to travel from Paris to London:

1. Fly on Air France, Easyjet, British Airways from Paris Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports to London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, or City airports (not all airlines to all airports)

2. Take the Eurostar train from Paris Gard du Nord station to London Waterloo. A direct train, it goes through the Channel tunnel.

3. Get a Eurolines coach.

4. Cycle

5. Hitchhike. But for a single girl it is somewhat dangerous.

cheap flights also

Train! Eurostar express through the Channel tunnel, about every hour, takes about 3 hours. Don't worry about not speaking French. Very few British people can speak French and we live 20 miles away......It doesn't seem to put us off going there!

Eurostar

Queen Victoria of Port
Eurostar Train.

You can only work in England if you have a visa. If you so, there are a lot of employment agencies in London - make sure you bring a C.V./Resume.

luddite
The easiest way is the Eurostar (channel tunnel train). Budget airlines look cheaper, but once you've paid to get to the remote airports they use it's not worth it.
If you can't speak French I suggest you get a phrase book. The French will not speak English.
As for a job, you'll need a work permit, you must get this BEFORE you come to the UK. You need to find a job with an employer who is willing to sponsor you. At 17, I doubt that will be possible.
Don't work illegally, the money will be below minumum wage and if caught you'll be arrested and deported.

Unless flights are cheaper, it might be worth taking the Euostar from Paris to London. It takes jsut over 2 hours and it brings you to the heart of London - the waterloo train station. ut Eurostar can be expensive. So it will be good to book in advance.
Coaches are aso a cheap way of travelling. There are over night coaches by eurolines.

Bruce P (you didn't see me h
You could get a plane, or catch the Eurostar, you might be able to get a job in a shop or maybe a job as waitress or something.
Good luck when you come over here
