I did the same thing when I put the wrong stamo on and I got it sent back to my house for "insufficient stamps".
Just send it back with correct stamps on it. Ask at post office |

I'm fairly certain that a 1 ounce letter mailed from the United States to England would run more along the lines of 96 cents. It'll likely be returned for insufficient postage. Use two or three stamps next time.
You can use US postage to mail anything outside of the United States, but you can't use US postage from another country to mail something into the United States. |

Depending on the weight and the way it's sent, the 75 cents may get it to London ... but next time, take the unstamped letter to the post office and stand in line ... have them weigh the envelope and sell you a stamp with enough value to get it to London ... with the prices of postage going up, it could be a dollar or more ... but the price is THE SAME from anywhere in the US, and ALL letters mailed in the US have USA on the stamp ... so that part is okay, if there is enough postage on it. If not, you will get it back if you put your return address on it, and you may re-mail it (but you will need to use a new envelope and get the proper postage put on it) ... but ASK the clerk at the post office if you have ANY doubts or questions ... they acutally LIKE giving good advice! |

1. Take letter.
2. Go to post office.
3. Hand letter to clerk and say 'I want to mail this.'
4. Mail said letter. |

No you take it to the post office and ask them for an overseas stamp, then give it to them and they will send it for you, it's 96 cents or something around there, i send things overseas all the time to my penpals. It might get remailed to your house, but not for a long time. |

You should have asked the post office how much postage you needed. |

Whenever I want to mail from the states to England, I make
sure I have it weighed at the post office. As I have had letters
returned in the past when I didn' t spend the dollar plus post-
age. I tend to write long letters, and so there's no guessing on
stamps or weight. So I take the extra measure to get the job
done right, and I don't have anything returned. It's always cost
over a dollar in postage. And once when I sent a magazine,
it cost me $10.00. Almost as much as the subscription to the
magazine. I haven't sent another, naturally. |

The fastest and safest way to ensure it make it there is to go to your local post office and grab a prepaid 'Air Mail' envelope! they will ask you questions and make sure they put efficient postage and the address is written properly!.... but if you sent the last one with standard postage they may deliver it for you anyway, it will take a while to arrive though , maybe even weeks!!! |

I just checked the USPS web site and First Class postage is 94 cents per ounce to the UK. |

There's a strong chance your letter will be sent back to u,it has to have the right amount of postage and it must be done at the window. If its going to London, England its considered domestic and must be round dated. |

It may come back, whereupon you can elicit help from the post office. It may not come back, in which case someone in London will be asked to pay the balance when it's delivered.
I'm guessing that you decided on a letter because you couldn't email whatever it was that you needed to waft over here to dear old Blighty? Perhaps you might consider some type of email communication with the intended letter recipient. It may soften the blow of recieving a missive from America which needs to be paid for, and lots of us are on this webnet thing now.
Toodles! |

TAKE THE LETTER TO THE POST OFFICE AND HAVE IT WEIGHED. MAKE SURE THE ADDRESSEE'S ADDRESS IS CORRECT.REQUEST A RETURN RECEIPT. I SEND TO ENGLAND OFTEN AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM.. |

I think it'll make it, as long as the address was correct. Your recipient might get a "balance due" but I don't think it'll come back. |

There are these blue boxes on some street corners with fold down doors and chutes. You open the little door, and drop in your letter. That's all there is to it! |
