The England pound is worth double the US dollar so $2=1 england pound. The is aprx based on the current exchange rate. But it may change a little depending on where you exchange money. You can do it at any currency exchange around england or in the airport but the airport usually gives a bad rate. You can even go and talk to your bank and they maybe able to order you some if you have enough time.

Dullards ask idiotic questions

England has Pounds Sterling, not "dollards"

It's British Pound not a dollar. 1GBP=2USD (approximately)

You can use

http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?amt=1&from=GBP&to=USD&submit=Convert

for exact quotes.

England doesn't have dollars, it has pounds. Any currency exchange booth or store will change the currency for you

lesson
its english pounds by da way. go 2 da aeroport or bank

Ryan M
English money is called Pound Sterling. The current exchange rate is about 2 American dollars for 1 British pound. So, USD$10 = GBP£5. For a more exact conversion, you can use http://www.xe.com to convert any amount into multiple currencies.

Miss Shoes
In England our money is called pound sterling, which can be changed up into US dollars, at some post offices, travel agents, airports, in some shops, and maybe in banks as well.
Some of these places may need a day notice, so they can order the money in.
(In the UK, not shore how to in the USA)

Hi,

You'll need to exchange the currency at a currency exchange. In the United States you can find them at most major International airports, and in London or the UK you can find them just about *everywhere* as they have exchanges on street corners, in post offices, hotels, etc.

The real issue is not where to exchange, but how to get the best rate. The rate you see in the major newspapers like the Wall Street Journal is the rate you will never get--it is the bank rate that they use to exchange money and generally you have to convert about $10 million or more to get that rate.

The rate you will pay is the 'tourist' rate and it isn't quite the same as the bank rate. For example, if the bank rate is $2 US --> £1 UK, you would actually have to pay more like $2.08-$2.12 --> $1 UK. When you leave the UK and have to exchange your UK pounds back to dollars, you'll get a different rate. £1 UK --> $1.90 US.

In addition, there are often fees of say £5 / $10 to do a transaction.

What I do is use my ATM card and take money out of the UK atm machines directly from my US bank account. But you have to check with your bank first to make sure they don't charge you a 'foreign currency fee' for the process.

What I also recommend is to plan a budget for your trip so you only have to make 1 or 2 conversions, instead of five or six (paying the fee each time).

Good luck.

You can do it at the Airport, I think its called Currency Exchange
