Oh at last...nice one Joe...reading down this lot made me wonder where some of these folks are living. There is easy access to Watford from Heathrow without going into London. It's only about 20 miles north of Heathrow. Central London is also nearly twenty miles away but in the wrong direction. You can get the 724 coach straight to Watford, which is the same coach that Virgin sells tickets for, that Joe above mentioned, though I've never seen Virgin signs or posters on them. It takes 50 minutes normally but can be longer if the traffic is bad. I've used them for years. You can get off at Watford Junction rail station or in the town centre at Clarendon Road . The Moon Under Water pub, which you'll see in the High Street a few paces ahead of you as you get off the coach,is a good meeting point out of the rain..It's got a huge blue and silver sign, can't miss it...very big bar with sofas and dining area and they do coffees as well. I use it quite often. Good place, not rowdy. ....At Heathrow the bus stops are well signposted from all over the terminal...no problem finding them, they're all together in a big pull-in,with a snack bar,a ticket office, toilets, and it's under cover. It serves airport terminals 1,2,and 3 and it's called the 'central terminal'. That's where you want on the bus timetable.. There are screens to show arrivals/departures.. Services are quite frequent...no problem. Hourly for the 724 but there are half-a -dozen ways to get to Watford by bus from Heathrow. 724 timetable is here...http://www.londonbusroutes.net/times/724.htm The fare will be around £5 one-way. EDIT; Thanks Matt..the 724 starts at terminal 5 then runs to the central terminal...they have been running since the days of the old London Transport -more than 30 years, with only slight route changes, and the addition of terminal 5.

NO NEED TO TAKE THE TUBE/TRAIN!

There is a coach service which runs from Heathrow Airport DIRECT to Watford Junction railway station.

It is operated by Virgin Trains - use the url below for more information, and to buy tickets.

I would use this, especially if you have luggage, as you won't need to lug it around Tube stations.

Green Line Bus 724 runs direct to Watford from Heathrow Central Bus Station every 60 minutes

Virgin Coach service from Heathrow Airport Bus Station up to Watford Junction.

Or by train, get the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station, then the tube on the eastbound/southbound Bakerloo line to Oxford Circus. From there, take the northbound/eastbound Victoria line to Euston and get the Watford train from there.

It will probably be a final destination like Birmingham New Street, Northampton or Milton Keynes. These are the quick express trains and get to Watford Junction in about 20 minutes. There are trains where the final destination is Watford, but these tend to be the slower suburban stopping trains and take about 45 minutes.

It will probably be just as cheap to hire a car from Heathrow instead of going into London and then out again....the drive from Heathrow is simple. You just head north up the M25 which you immediately join as you come out the airport and you'll see the signs to Watford.

I agree with Jonal above.
The first 6 or so answers are just awful. If thats how people decide to travel, they must have spare cash to burn.

The Virgin bus from Heathrow to Watford Junc is actually provided by Greenline Coaches, service number 724. Buses from Heathrow leave every 52 minutes past the hour, and depart from the bus stop outside Terminal 5. If your coming into a different Heathrow terminal, you can use either the Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect trains free of charge to get around the Airport.

I dont know how much its going to cost, as I've not used this service before, but I wouldnt think it would be more than £15.
