It's ok but everything is so expensive. I am enjoying the Autumn here though. The different coloured leafs, crisp mornings and evenings, morning frosts, Autumn sunsets, misty morning and evenings, hot chocolate etc. I really like the UK at this time of the year.

Life in Britain has it's up's and Down's

For one - We pay the highest amount of tax in all the EU countries and we keep getting taxed more each year. To highlight this; do you realise that 65% of the price of a pack of smokes is tax! It's true

But what other country besides the States can you say has such a level of National Pride - I'm a Brit and Damn Proud of It!

Immegration is getting to be a big issue here - It's time France and Spain started pulling their own weight on this front.

England has some of the kindest, warmest people in the world on it's shores.

In short; I live here because I was born here - I'll stay for now at least because it still means something to be British!

Great.

Low unemployment. Reasonably high wages (controlled by a minimum wage).

Varied seasons. Some beautiful countryside. Nice apples at this time of year!!

Freedom of worship, freedom of speech, freedom of ideas.

Culturally interesting (theatre, literature, visual arts.) Food good.(much improved by importing the best cuisines from around the world!!)

Real ale.......say no more.

Some people may think that gut rot hooch and the price of fags are the most important things in life - and claim that these things are cheaper in other countries - they are when you are buying them with wages earned in Britain - with wages earned in those countries they are not so cheap!

House prices are expensive - this is a sign that people want to live here, I suppose, to have the things that money can not buy - a free and tolerant society.

Just had to answer this due to all the ridiculous answers from other people. Living in the UK is good - yes it might be expensive in comparison with other places, but honestly, some people don't know how lucky they are. We have free health care, free education, income support and benefits for those who are unemployed or ill, low levels of unemployment, good transport networks, communications networks...

Perhaps some of you should take a look at the way millions of other people in this world live, and then see if you really think the UK is so bad.

It was great until all the sh*t of the world moved here.

'Er indoors!!
right now I am sitting in front of a log fire on a very cold frosty night. There is an owl hooting outside my window, and the sky is so clear, I can see all the stars, and the milky way.I live in the countrside, and it is lovely. no polution, no crime, no hassle. I have had a lovely walk through the woods near my home, and even though it is half term, and we have visitors in Cornwall, I have hardly seen a soul, soooooooo peaceful. I love England, I just do not like what is happening to it, and before too long, it will be down my end of the country too. It is sad that we have lost our identity. The place I am describing, where I live, was once how the whole country was, but not anymore.

boy from bali
Life is hard, we pay too much in taxes, housing is a ridiculous price, I just bought another place in Bulgaria for £10,000 which would have cost me £250,000 in Southern England, I`ve got a place in Bali which cost £5,000, would have cost £100,000 in the UK. Goodbye rip off Britain, I`m off to Bali for the winter, fags 50p a pack, spirits £1.25 a bottle. I will say one thing the Brits are the best nation on earth, once you get to know them.

Nicola B- you are so right !
