I drove from City Airport to Washington in just over 4 hours last week.
M11, A14, A1(M) (270 miles)
Don't use the M1, the A1 is much easier. |

HI crack J
bout 5 hours or so ...& watch out for the cameras
It is exactly 300 miles but it depends on your day & time of travel.
there is always loads of traffic on sunday afternoon passing the metro centre out of newcastle on A1M then clearer after washington, then its quicker to take M18 rather than the M62 across to the M1 it is busy as well as on sunday evening at the bottom of the M1 (staples corner) coming into london.
give youself four & a half hours or more to be sure.& also add time to get where you want to be in the slow traffic in London |

Go by plane,it can work out cheaper.average air fare is about £80 ,fuel could cost you that, but travel time is quicker.about 1hr 30. |

about 3 and a half hours especially when you avoid the M1 M6 stay on the A1 and it shouldnt be a bad journey. |

It all depends on where in London you want to be? If you could be a bit more specific on a location then people could give good advice and possibly even directions. London covers over 66 square miles so it's difficult to pinpoint exactly where you want to go?? |
