I advise coming along as soon as it opens at 10am. Because it is winter season, it closes at 4pm.
Or, if you can wait until next year, our new Gorilla Kingdom and Rainforest Pavillions will be open. |

It takes less time than it used to as there are less animals now. I went a couple of times last year with my 8 year old daughter and we'd seen enough after about 4 hours.
I couldn't really recommend it as a place to rush to - especially as it is very expensive as someone else has pointed out. You may feel you didn't get your money's worth.
I know it's not in London but I can recommend Marwell zoo near Winchester in Hampshire. It's much more spread out in a valley than the rather cramped London zoo, but ironically the animals seem less inclined to hide. It would take a day to do it justice but you could see a lot of it in half a day. It's much better value for money - you don't feel you're being fleeced at every turn.
You can drive there which is easier or get a bus from Winchester. |

It depends on how quick you want to get around. If like you say you have a packed day, maybe get there when it opens and you could spend the morning looking round. When i visited last i arrived when it opened, i looked around the zoo stayed for the different shows and spent a good 4 hours there. It just depends on what you want to do, seeing shows they put on will take up more time. |

Depends, you could probably see it in half a day. It seems a pity to rush around everything though, why not just pick out a couple of sites and spend quality time visiting them and come back to London again. |

Ideally you would spend the day there but if pushed for time you can do it in 1/2 a day xx |

You can run round it in about 12 minutes, but if you want to spend a bit more time with the animals it would take longer. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I'm still trying to see how long this piece of string is. |

half a day max.
Also, because the cages are designed to give the animals the feeling they're in a natural habitat with lots of nooks and hiding places, the end result is that a lot of them do hide: and you get to see very little of them.
I found this a very frustrating experience, walking from cage to cage and catching glimpses of the animals. Of course, you don't want them to live in misery, but had I known that would have been the end result I would have skipped the experience altogether, especially for the price they charge. |

We spent a whole day there. It is really good fun. One good tip is to try and go when the kids are at school. Much quieter then. Gives you chance to see more at a leisurely pace. |

it would probably take more than a day so its best to look it up online and decide which animals you want to see - the monkeys are always best and the elephants are good too - reptiles tend to be a bit crap as do the birds but thats just a personal preference |
