Depends which part of London, which part of Nottingham and at what time.. I live in Notts (about 15 mins from Jn 26 M1) and could comfortably get to within the M25 in two and a half hours if driving late evening.

Coach

by car up the A1/A1M to Notts, break for cuppa and top up petrol,
3hrs.
Alternately, if in Saath London through the blackwall tunnel, up A13 to M11 lovely road continue till back onto M1 or nearer to Nots.

Hey I'm answering a lot of your questions lately - I do like your puppy! If you are going by train there are 2 trains an hour Mon-Sat from St Pancras. One takes just under 2 hours and the other about 1hr 40 mins. Cheap fare deals available on the internet - go the the Midland mainline website.

Where abouts in London, what time of day? what day?

To get out of central to the 25 can take an hour, depending on where you are.

If your north go M1. Friday at this time 3hours plus.

Midnight to six a.m. anytime under/around two hours.

Best place to check is AA website.
Always add a little extra, say thirty minutes from anytime they give you.
