How many British dollars in one American dollar?

Hi. I'm visiting England, France, and Italy next month. To organize my spending, I would like to know how many British dollars are in on American dollar. Also, the French and Italian dollar as well. I couldn't find info on the net.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The British currency is the pound not the dollar. Italy and France use the Euro. I've put a currency comparison link below. It's a neat website because you can input any foreign currency and find out its USDollar equivalent.

At the present time 1 British pound = $1.97. 1 Euro = $1.58.

Britain has pounds, sorry , I only know my exchange rate but it should be in the region of 2 dollars to buy one pound

haha! Er...youll be surprised to hear only 50p british is in one American dollar. Meaning 1$ US only buys you 50pence (cents) in Britain. For example: 10 US is 5 pounds. The bad news is that 5 pounds is worth the same as 5 dollars. In Britain you will have to pay double for everything. In France, the use the euro and that is a bit better. For 10 US you get 6 euro. Italy is the same, they also use the euro and the exchange rate is the same. So in Italy and France there are 60 cents in $1.

The British call their currency Pounds Sterling, not dollars

1 US Dollar = 0.507410 GB Pounds Sterling

The French and Italians once had the Franc and Lire respectively, but recently converted to the Euro when they both joined the European Union.

1 US Dollar = 0.632070 Euro

viensmevoir
its a british POUND, and its a EURO

1 pound = 1.9 dollar
1 euro = 1.5 dollar

The British use Pounds Sterling, the French and Italians use Euro.
You have to check the exchange rate, as it fluctuates daily.

The Italian and French use Euro and 1 American Doller is about 68 Euro Cents.

The British are kind of Half Half and the accept either Euro or British Pounds.

The great British POUND is worth approx $2 , the rest of Europe deals in the Euro and one British POUND is currently worth about €1.25.

roonil
it depends on the exchange rate

The british do not have dollars thry have pounds
Secondly you would need more then one American dollar to equal a British pound lol!! Their goes the America idea of the almighty dollar.the canadian dollar has been at par with the American as well for so long .
anyways find out the infomration daily at xe.com

currently you need 1.97 US dollars to equal one pound at the time I checked it for you

Now when your buying their is a cost factor(exchange rate ) as you know so it should work out in you paying 2.00 american for 1 BRITISH POUND

Hi,

You can use Google to calculate currencies. To find how many GBP there are in a dollar I typed:

1 USD to pounds

Into Google and got:

1 U.S. dollar = 0.507459657 British pounds

You can do this for most every currency, but note that the exchange rate may not be as up to date as you'd like it, but it gives you an idea.

P.S.: You may want to know the following:

1 U.S. dollar = 0.631991405 Euros

Since the EU has been using the Euro for a couple of years now :P It'll come in handy when you visit France and Italy ;-). I would pay in the native currency, unless you want to pay for everything double.

no such thing as British dollars my good man.
There are pounds (in England) and Euros in other parts of Europe.
1 pound is roughly 2.3 US dollars....and I'm not sure on the exchange of Euros....but it would be pretty much the same I'm guessing.
