People are not living longer, it only seems like it because there are more people in the country to what there was years ago. go and check out the old graveyards and look at the age of some of the headstones the proof is there. |

around 60 million.
The size is one thing but we have an ageing population so if you take the fact that people are living long the population is actually getting smaller. The immigration rate is helping to increase the young population that the UK is now lacking, these people will work and improve the country.
The rate of immigration is still not replacing the low birth rate that is actually lowering the populaion of the uk.
to sum it up in the last 30 years the old people have been 'hiding' the real size of the popluation of the UK - The number of people below 40 has decreased! even though the population has gone up a tiny amount.. |
