Check out London Underground web site for detailed info on this, but I did read that if you touch one of the poles, you have come into contact with at least 15 different penises because people don't wash their hands. That is pretty gross.

What an odd question. Nothing would harm you, however there is probably loads of bacteria on the seats as the underground and London in general, the air is dirty.

My friend wouldn't let me sit down in the underground the one time i've been. apparently she'd seen a show where the seats had been tested and it'd come back showing many things in them, not good, including urine and semen. yuk!!!
